The Rizzo thread got me thinking.

Baseball is full of larger than life characters, many trying to make the world around them a better place. Some of them go above and beyond and it always gets out. Let's build a starting 9 of these guys.

I will nominate Anthony Rizzo at first base. His actions regarding kids suffering from cancer are great. http://www.freedomcardboard.com/forum/showthread.php/152025-Wow-Anthony-Rizzo-Just-wow

Post your nomination and why.

I follow the Seattle Mariners and have to say that they are fantastic at giving back to the community. My nomination would be Kyle Seager (3B). I believe that he is so underrated both on and off the field. He is so generous with his time...especially with children.

Here is some of the community work that he does:

•Vs. Cancer Foundation- Kyle Seager Vs. Cancer
•Seattle Children’s
•American Heart Association
•Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound
•United Way of King County
•Refuse To Abuse Campaign

I don't know what position 4b. is, but I nominate David Ortiz for it. Everything he does for kids is pretty well known, so I'm assuming most fans know all about it.

David Robertson for RP. For all he has done for Louisiana for the floods this year and after Katrina too.

Adam Wainwright has been doing a lot of work with Water Missions International to bring clean water to Haiti, as well as other places. He has donated a lot of his own money, and had made trips to Haiti to see how the projects are going and how the funds are being used.

I didn't know anything about this until I was watching a recent Cardinals broadcast and they were talking about it.

I think Jason Motte should be a resounding winner of the RP spot.

His foundation has been doing amazing work for years now.
