Earlier this year or maybe it was even last year there were several boxes sold at auction for close to $500. Previously they were closer to $200 or so before a few people got carried away. The handful at are currently listed at $500 have been up for quite a while, so I'm guessing the guy(s) who were paying that much came to their senses.

There are quite a few Schilling's and Rolen's on Sportslot.com. Good luck on finishing the sets.

We when ran some box breaks on here 2 years ago or so, they were $150ish. I personally don't see anything over that as being a wise bust(unless you get a hot box), but that's just me.

You and I have done numerous trades on The Bench.
Dont fall victim to the $ 500 box on ebay of 1998 TEK box game being played.
Busting a box is a money losing proposition for sure as you would be lucky to get $120 (if even that) worth of 98 TEK cards

That seller has that Tek box for $425 on his website. I know that's not a bargain but I wonder why that is. Maybe he thinks someone will bite? He is from my state but I never went to that shop before.

This summer while handling affairs regarding my father I bounced between Fredericksburg Virginia and Baltimore some 6 times . I stopped by a very nice store called Collector's World with relatively new ownership who bought Rons Collectors World in 2013 located in Annandale, Virginia. I had seen someone from Annandale listing overpriced boxes on ebay of 1998 TEKs and asked if they had any 1998 TEKs assuming it was them. I was told that some guy had come into their shop several times trying to sell boxes of cards loaded up in his car. I don't recall the specifics but they did not buy them from that guy but they did remember the asking price 98 TEK was very pricey and they passed.

I probably visited 6 or 7 places in the Virginia and Baltimore area with no shops having any 1998 TEKs. Even here in a large city like Houston none of the card dealers who have stores around here other that one guy in Alvin who sold a bunch of TEKs to that RR guy have any 98 TEKs and I dont want to waste gas money driving from NW Houston to Alvin as Ive done that before.

A Raul Mondesi card 56 pat# 56 came in mail today from COMC. Not really actively chasing them but its first TEK Same Card #/Same Pattern # Ive gotten in about a year. Anyone have any extra Pattern# 1s or Same Card#/pattern # 98 TEK to sell or trade ?

Got in a Schilling pattern 88 and a Rolen pattern 67 the last few days. Might do these sets once I finish my Thome set. Need these cards to finish my Thome set:

That really is odd. And freaky looking.:shock:

I have 3 or 4 misprinted 98 TEK cards like that...... One with a tiny Biggio head on the back of a Bonds card.
