No idea....never heard of the name and only 140 post. I fully expect to see this card on ebay next week.

And now it's on ebay. What a *********. Flip_and_Rip was gracious enough to offer it up at no charge for the sole purpose of... well, in his own words, "if this helps anyone out with their set/PC feel free to pm me. Will send it out free no charge." That is in the spirit of this community and what I hoped this thread would be. Enjoy your money Raider408, because you sure haven't made any friends.

If this is somehow a wild coincidence, then I sincerely apologize.

Do a Beckett Marketplace search for Diffractors and see why I almost pooped my pants this morning LOL

The Edgars don't look like diffractors; a couple of the Buhners could be. Tough to be sure with a thumbnail scan. I've dealt with Hoopla Sports a number of times and I don't ever recall a problem. I checked their web site and they had a few other 98 Teks listed, and didn't call them diffractors. The scan was a bit better on their web site. On the web site, he noted that one card in this lot (one that Don Apland needs for his Edgar set) had black spots on it, and another had a refractor line -- that's why the slight price reduction on a couple of cards. He might be mistaken about the cards being diffractors, but I don't see him as a con man. So for under $40.00 I bought a lottery ticket. Maybe I should have had my coffee first! I'll let everyone know what I get.

Now that I had my coffee, I found the larger scans. Clearly none are diffractors. Oh well!

P.S. Got a full PayPal refund from Beckett Marketplace on their own initiative. Seller must have realized his mistake.

I did not search all 90 pages of this thread but do we have a page of what every members player needs are or patterns they need. Is that possible to start one?
I am in need of Paul O'neill #37 pattern 81.
I can use any diffractors except 1,4,10,27,31,42,56,63,65,72,74,75,79,86.
I found these base cards in my trade box:
#20 Jim Edmonds P67
#40 Rafael Palmeiro P11
#43 Carlos Delgado P21
#45 Kenny Lofton P22
#81 Jay Buhner P22

May well be a coincidence. That seller also has another Andruw Jones diffractor listed on eBay.

So anyone other than the usual Diffractor trolls

For most of us, this is a fun hobby. I don't understand the need to continually dump on others. We helped each other a lot in the pursuit of the 8100-card set a decade ago, and we wouldn't have come close without the help of a lot of other collectors. No need to keep raining on the parade.

I am an advanced Barry Bonds collector with over 9,000 pieces. I have all 90 regular 1998 Topps Tek card patterns and I need only 30 of the 90 1998 Tek Diffractors of Bonds to complete this difficult set. I have approximately six(6) duplicate 1998 Tek Diffractors in duplicate for even up trades. Please let me know if you can help me. Thanks. Jeff Mazur (Bondscardswanted)

I consider this a fun hobby as well Richard. Been collecting off an on for 50 years. With all the sets put out today by so many different card manufacturers and fewer and fewer card shops even in cities as big as Houston, if it weren't for the internet allowing connections with other like minded set builders set building would be dead as a doorknob as it would be almost impossible to complete the insert and parallel card sets. On the flip side if ebay and the internet did not exist there would not be so many different products put out. I typically limit my collecting to a few sets each year of cards I find intrinsically pleasing to look at or something unique. Well that and a few older sets like my 62, 66 and 69 sets that I treasure from my youth.

There are some great guys who post on this TEK thread but there 2 I know of with alternate IDs on ebay who bid TEK cards up and I suspect work together in a tag team fashion. That's why I gave up on the Diffractor chase. I commend you in your long term quest. I still think its a nearly impossible task but I suppose nothing is impossible so good luck.

And Richard obviously the troll comment was not directed to you as you were one of the guys who helped me (and vice versa) in my own 8100 card Master set quest. People are so sensitive these days. Oh well. Good luck to all of your guys working on your favorite player sets. I do have 12 boxes of unopened 1998 TEKs I bought a couple months ago put away in storage. One day I will bust them...maybe at the 20th anniversary of the 1998 TEK release date.

Wow, that is impressive you have that many boxes and not tempted to open them.

Did elberson ever get a king's ransom for his Bonds and Alomar set?Still haven't hit the jackpot, so I am out.
