Lets assemble the greatest team ever by voting on who the best overall is at each position. First up, catcher. I'll do 1B after we get 50+ votes, then 2B and so on.

Taking everything in to consideration besides team attributed acolades (like WS rings) I chose Piazza and Pudge (Ivan).

If you think Mickey Cochrane is the greatest overall catcher of all-time, vote other and write him in.

Not that, Bench is the only one people should vote for IMO. Just saying seeing Carter on that list was kinda surprising, sorry for sidetracking it.

I'm surprised that you weren't more shocked about Torre being on the list over Cochrane than Carter. Carter has been on every top-10 catcher list I have ever seen and you rarely if ever see Torre. That said, it doesn't really matter who's on the lower part of the list as long as the top-few are on there.

Berra by a hair over Bench. Josh Gibson third (best offensively, but contributed little on defense.) All other are 2nd tier. Ted Simmons should be on the list.

I'm sorry, but a skewed sense of history and a shortened career will prevent Campy from getting the recognition he deserves. You could make an arguement that Campy and Bench were equivalent.

For the record, the GG, when comparing Campy and Bench, doesn't enter into the convo, as it wasn't around when Campy played.
