Looking to sell a 6/18/1972 Texas Rangers game-used lineup card featuring Hall of Famer Ted Williams managing the team. His signature is featured at the bottom of this line-up card.
This lineup card is a carbon copy. Lineup cards are done in triplicate. One copy is kept by the manager, one goes to the umpire and one goes to the opposing manager. Only 3 copies exist for each game and many of these were thrown out, so they are extremely hard to find!
This copy was the copy kept by Ted Williams and given out to a child. Williams (along Bob Lemon) were rare managers who would give away line-up cards to those who asked.
It is interesting to note that this line-up card is for a game that never occurred as the game was called on account to rain. That day was Yankee Bat Day at Yankee stadium and the bats were given out, despite the game not being played. The line-up cards for the game would have been written before the game as they always are.
A similar Ted Williams Carbon Copy lineup card sold on eBay on July 30th for $487.
