1990 Donruss (LEAF INC missing period - non Aqueous)

While updating my site, I noticed a distinct difference between the regular 1990 Donruss base and the non-Aqueous test cards missing the period at the end of "LEAF, INC":

Regular

No period

Is the latter card some type of proof? Aside from the lack of a period and color variation, the no period card seems a bit weaker, the photo is lighter (lack of some gloss?,) and the front surface has a rough texture.

This is a documented variation that also appears in the 1989 Donruss set. The print runs appear to be similar. But good eye.

I think it may be from different printers. There are the same versions for 1991 and 1992 Donruss and 1992 Leaf Reg and Gold also.
