Can anyone shed any light on how to distinguish between the regular version and the gold variation?
I am completely confused.
Here is the write up in the Beckett Almanac:
'This parallel issue to the 1993 Classic Four Sport set consists of 325 Gold foil versions of the regular set, plus four player autograph cards that were inserted into each factory gold set. Each of the four players autographed 3900 cards. Aside from the special gold-foil highlights (such as the ghosted stripe carrying the player's name being offset by gold-foil lines) the cards are identical to the regular 1993 Classic Four Sport base cards.'
A quick search on COMC turns up these:
All Items matching: 1993 Classic Four Sport Gold - COMC
Notice, these have the word "Gold" embossed on the front of the card. Where is the "Ghosted stripe" Beckett alludes to?
Any ideas?
I haven't seen a Billy Wagner version anywhere. You would think that with a print run of 3,900, I would have seen one by now.
