I purchased two boxes (as opposed to 6-8 last year) boxes this year.
The negatives:
For about $15 less per box, you're getting six less autographs. (Four autographs for roughly $75 per box this year as opposed to 10 autographs for roughly $90 per box last year)
Too much border on the cards.
Photos appear darker because of the border and smaller picture.
The positives:
There are more cards in the set - 150 this year, as opposed to 100 in the past. However, many of the extra cards are dual/triple picture cards.
Dual and triple photo cards will be fun to try to get autographed TTM/IP and make nice collectibles.
More inserts numbered 50 or lower (at least 4 per box)
20 packs per box this year, as opposed to 10 per box last year.
My overall impression is that the base set is improved by the dual/triple photo cards for autograph purposes, but that is negatively outweighed by fewer autographs per box this year.
I'd like to see 20 packs per box with ten autographs per box for around $100 per box for next year.
Box 1:
Inserts:
Kyle Higashioka 13/50
Brad Holt 37/50
Boston Top Pick Pitchers 37/50
Kyle Lobstein 13/25
Game Used:
Matt LaPorta 61/199
Autographs:
Ike Davis
Josh Lindblom
Bryan Price
Edgar Olmos 25/50
Box 2:
Luis Flores/Rebel Ridling 36/50
Mike Lee/Mitch Herold 19/25
Logan Schafer 1/5
Pete Hissey 5/5
Game Used:
Stephen Fife 87/199
Autographs:
Gordon Beckham
Tyler Chatwood
Christian Friedrich
Daniel Schlereth
