2005 Donruss Executive Edition BGS slabs

Does anyone know where these came from? I've seen a couple of 1998 Donruss Signatures Significant Signatures Sandy Koufaxs numbered out of 25, one raw and one in a slab. I'm guessing they were slabbed copies of replacements they had lying around given to employees based on the label on the back but that makes me wonder just how many extra copies of these cards are out there or how many just weren't redeemed. Bankruptcies issues are crazy things.
