Welcome to the first Field Level Preview. Today, we’re going to take a look at the upcoming release of 2009 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Baseball, which is due out on January 20, 2009. With today’s news from Panini that each box will contain six autographs, with 1/5 of the boxes containing 10 autographs and one memorabilia card, this is going to be an absolutely loaded product to bust. Let’s take a look and see what’s coming, and what might be the best items out of the product.

Release Date: January 20, 2009
Price Point: $5/pack or $80/box at Blowout.
Product Loadout: 5 cards per pack, 20 packs per box, 20 boxes per case
Hit Ratios: Six autographs per box. 1:5 boxes will have 10 autographs and 1 memorabilia card. Each box will include one Elite Series, one Aspirations die-cut, two School Colors, two College Ties and two other inserts. Each case should include autos of #2 pick Dustin Ackley and #3 pick Donovan Tate.
The rest of the preview....

Who do you think the big cards in DEEE will be, beyond the guys that are big in Bowman Draft? Will the base autos in DEEE be more valuable on eBay in the long run? How huge are the Pujols on-card autos going to be?

So you are looking at approximately 140 hits (16*6 autos + 10*4 autos + 4 GU). Paying $1600 for a case leaves you needing just under $11.50 per hit to break even. I know there will be a lot of <$5 autos but at 11.50 per hit it seems great and it would be very rare to get absolutely murdered on a case if you rip and flip at release

The srp on this should really jump if most boxes are hitting 6 autos.

I haven't bought cards in months, but this is getting ridiculously tempting.

Are cards 1-50 autographs? Or just base cards? Looking at the checklist they look like just base cards, but according to Gilmore's list, they are autographs also.

Thanks

In previous years they have been both. They are the base cards (with parallels) and then the TOTC autos. David Price from 2007 is a good example of this.

1-50 are base (non-auto'd) cards. However, they do have auto'd parallels.

51-150 are ONLY auto'd, regular or parallel. 51-69 (I think) are on-card for normal, sticker for parallel.
