How does everyone feel about the overall talent pool? I am seeing majority of reports saying it is a weaker crop than usual. That is the concensus opinion about last years draft as well. I see a lot of high upside players in this years draft...thoughts?

I think we've been spoiled with some really clear, obvious and quick-rising talent in the 1/1 slot over the past few years (Harper, Strasburg, and to a lesser extent Price). There is not a player of that caliber in this draft, nor a clear consensus number 1. I think there are a lot of 'safe' picks in the top round area who will become quality regulars, but no one who screams out "I am a star in waiting". I think people wanted to anoint Austin Meadows as that kind of player, but his stock seems to be dipping a touch, and scouts are questioning his hit tool, as well as wondering if he is another Bubba Starling (who, let's be honest, has not developed quite as expected for the price/hype).

I have no doubt there are some players that are going to get drafted and absolutely tear up short season ball (the college hitters especially will feast on those leagues), as well as some guys that will be highly desirable hobby autos. But what I see is a bunch of quality MLB regulars, and a couple guys that, if it all comes together, could be something special.
