I've got four "vintage" boxes of cards arriving soon and I'll share the results here.

The boxes are:

2001 Topps Series 1 Hobby - 36 packs

2001 Topps Series 2 Retail - 36 packs

1999 Skybox Thunder Hobby - 24 packs

and

2000 Upper Deck Legends - 24 packs

Not expecting anything more than a fun trip down memory lane but you never know.

Thanks for checking it out.

2001 Topps Series I

Fun, nostalgic break but a lot of work going through 36 packs with not many inserts or any rookies to look for. Still fun to see names like Desi Relaford and John Jaha though. Cards were in good shape and not sticking together.

Johnny Bench
Mike Schmidt
Yogi Berra
Tom Seaver

Combos 1:12
Vlad Guerrero/Clemente
Big Red Machine w/Griffey

2001 Topps Series II

This was was a bit of letdown between the lack of inserts and the fact that about half the cards stuck together and suffered some surface damage when pulled apart. Not a box I would pay to open again.

Notable Base:
Edwin Encarnacion RC
Jake Peavy RC
Ichiro RC (x2) - Excited to pull two of these but unfortunately both have pretty bad surface damage

Noteworthy 1:8
Willie Mays
Whitey Ford
Jackie Robinson
Pedro Martinez

Gold Parallel 1:14
John Halama
Corey Koskie
Sammy Sosa

Combos 1:12
Piazza/Josh Gibson
Southpaw Greatness w/Randy Johnson
Bonds/Mays

What Could Have Been 1:17
Rube Foster
Martin Dihigo

Before There Was Topps 1:25
Grover Alexander

1999 Skybox Premium

Great looking, high-quality cards made for a fun break. No Autographics or Intimidation Nation but did well otherwise:

Live Bats 1:7
Ben Grieve
Tony Gwynn
Jeff Bagwell

Rookie SPs 1:8
Have to check

Soul of the Game 1:14
Vladimir Guerrero
Ken Griffey Jr. - needed this card for the PC

Diamond Debuts 1:49
Kyle Farnsworth - Worst checklist for an insert set I've ever seen; Farnsworth was one of the better pulls  Good looking card though.

Star Rubies
Dmitri Young #14 /50

Certainly not one of the bigger names but still fun to hit a Star Ruby from a pack. For the price I paid ($35) I'd certainly try another box of this set.

2000 UD Legends

My first time breaking this product and I really enjoyed it. There's an insert in almost every pack and the foil base cards make it seem like a high-end product. The cards were in good shape with the exception of a few with foil issues around the edges.

20th Century Legends Subset 1:5
Babe Ruth
Nomar Garciaparra
Cal Ripken Jr.
Bob Gibson
Randy Johnson
Tony Gwynn

Generation Y2K Subset 1:9
Kip Wells
Adam Kennedy

Millenium Men 1:4
Mark McGwire (x2)
Mike Schmidt
Johnny Bench
Jackie Robinson
Ken Griffey Jr.

Defining Moments 1:12
Roger Clemens
Willie Mays

Reflections in Time 1:12
Barry Bonds/Willie Mays
Cal Ripken Jr/Lou Gehrig

Ones for the Ages 1:24
n/a

Eternal Glory 1:24
Derek Jeter
Willie Mays

Legendary Signatures 1:24
Rollie Fingers - A bit of a letdown considering the checklist but at least I avoided the redemptions and he is a HOF. Nice bold signature though.

Legendary Jerseys 1:48
Frank Robinson - Great looking set (would be a fun one to put together) and a very underrated player.
