Doesn't surprise me that they are selling for around $200, the guy will probably be named number one prospect come next month by BA. Even Machado's blues are selling for more than $200 and he hasn't had more than 50 ab's or so in pro ball.

If Trout tears up AA next season, the best time to dump his stuff will be toward the end of the season or during ST 2011 when he is almost sure fire call up. Then those blues will be $350 + easy.

Sometimes people need to improve their reading comprehension. Aminors you replied to a question about heyward blue autos with trout pricing history. Hence the confusion.

Heyward blue autos were over $300 in ST and peaked at $500. Right now they sell for $300-325 range.

Trout parallels are inching toward new highs.

In fact many prospects rc autos are slowly on the rise with spring coming around the corner.
Guys like Stanton, trout, montero, Freeman, bumgarner, chapman, belt, moustakas etc have been moving up. I am going to selling a lot right before ST but keep some back in case of a big spring bump

I thought He/she was saying they recall Trout blues being over 300. The title is "Mike Trout Blue Ref Auto at $200+?!", and the pronoun that poster used was "they". I assumed he/she was referring to Trout blues, of course.

Anyhow, you are correct. Lots of guys are seeing the bump. The prime offseason buying window is gone, it seems.

Assuming Trout will be the #1 guy, and from the chatter I've read it looks like that will be the case, a blue refractor auto won't be selling for $200-$225 for too much longer. Most of his cards are still pretty decent buys if you are comparing his current values to the peak values of previous #1 prospects. Just think about it. Would a #1 prospect really have their Bowman Sterling Autograph sell for only $30 right before spring training? What about a base Chrome auto for $55-$60? I've said it all offseason long, and so far it's rung true. With Trout, buy what you can, while you can.

Oh there are still buys out there my friend...

Oh I know. The window to buy is still open, but the PRIME window is seemingly gone. The window where I picked up a Montero ref auto for 84 bucks, and Trout Chromes were still fifty bucks and such like that. There are still profitable buys, but the best (prime) time to buy is over.

bball, where are you hearing this chatter?

I sold way to early myself......this is the reason why I am slowly moving out of prospecting and moving into TTM/IP. I enjoy getting autos a lot more than doing this stuff. I have bad luck to the core when it comes to selling lol,

Following BA's chats. I've read it numerous times that they think Trout is the best prospect in baseball.

BA has a complete love affair with Trout. He's good and he had a big big year, but I still don't see how anyone can be ranked above Harper on a list that takes future potential into consideration. Harper's future potential far outweighs a great Minor League season for Trout, Montero, etc., and I believe he should be ranked accordingly.

That said, I don't work for BA and they seem to think Trout is going to be one of the big stars coming up in the next couple years, so I won't be surprised at all when they rank him #1. He is definitely a top 3 prospect, but I personally think they think too highly of him.

I'll be higher on Harper when he plays pro ball and hits .325 plus with 25 HR during a full season.

Yeah, we know Harper can hit the snot out of the ball, but we don't know how much plate discipline he will demonstrate at the pro level. If he strikes out 20-25% of the time, and walks 10-15% with big power numbers, that's a huge difference from 10-15% K% and a comparable walk rate. We've all seen high draft picks flame out at A ball or A+, so it's hard to give a guy like Harper the top spot when he's far from a guarantee right now.

Montero stuff will blow up way beyond Trout the first spring training homerun he hits or the batting practice hr's a la Heyward.

In 2008 Jesus Montero hit a Home Run in his only Spring Training at-bat.
In 2010 Jesus Montero hit a Home Run off the "M" at the top of the scoreboard in right.

He has already done it, if he does it again this year. BOOM!
