When a customer opens packs in the store and gets a big hit, how do you feel? Is it a big deal to you if someone hits a sweet card, or is it no different than pulling nothing but base cards?

Ive been in shops before when someone pulls a big card, and the owner seemed happy for the customer. But is it just routine? Do you feel the thrill as if you pulled it yourself?

I'm part owner of a shop where we sell cards although it's not a major part of our business at this point, so we rarely have people come in and bust packs other than the low end stuff. Now and then we'll have someone come in looking for a box of a specific product or try some higher end packs, and it's always really cool when they hit something nice. It's almost like you feel responsible for their gain/loss even though you obviously can't control the random nature of card packs.

It's kind of a pride thing too...like "Customer X hit a 1/1 Patch Auto of player X in OUR shop last week"

I don't own the store but have worked in one for years and always feel good for the Customer getting the "big" hit. And if it's one of the better regular customers who open alot, the better!

I also enjoy when kids get a "hit" they're excited about even if it's only a small value card...

I will make an assumption here, because i have not owned a retail shop (worked in one briefly). Someone hitting it big will likely return and keep buying, if they are not already a regular. owners have to like seeing that and can also use that as advertising or word of mouth to bring more buyers in…"look what came out of one of MY packs!".

Unless the owner is ripping his own product and becomes secretly jealous, it must be a good thing to see.

When I owned my store I was happy for my customer and happier for me as it showed first of all my packs were unsearched and secondly, a happy customer is one who will buy more. I tried to take pictures of the customer with his/her big hit and posted it in the store!!

I think when you are a store owner you think differently than a collector. You almost have to put that collecting mentality out of your mind as you are trying to feed your family on what you are selling and anything you hold back for your own collection is money I didnt have to feed the family.

The shop I worked at in the 90's wanted all their customers to walk away happy. The owners are sports fans, but not necessarily card collectors. In the 20 years I've known them, I've never seen them open a box of cards for themselves. They will post all the big hits on a board in their shop. Even when I worked there I loved watching customers bust wax. Sure I would be a bit jealous, but ultimately happy for them. I'm still that way when I see people post their big hits here.

The shop I have been going to for over 25 years, is always happy for the customer.. He gets the boxes/cases in for his customers to open..

He doesn't rip any of his products as he wants us to get the big hits.. He gets the same enjoyment of watching us hit the big card as we do pulling them..

Maybe that's why I have been going to him for over 25 years!!..

Let me know if you want me to post my last 3 hits? :D

When I worked at a shop we always loved seeing the customers get great pulls.

I remember when 01 Bowman came out and I picked one pack for a customer. Hit the Pujols auto.

Customer just got this Cano, yeah both he and I were happy.

I'm glad he opened it here because he had no idea it was worth about $500 -$700

That's HUGE. Given they won the championship and Cano's series MVP status I could see it fetching more
