When I was a kid, I found an old abandoned house in the woods. It was in bad shape and the floors were collapsing in spots. It was probably not very safe to be exploring, but that is what preteens did back in the late 70s, while their parents were oblivious!
Inside this house were some newspapers from the 50s. I remember thinking I had hit the jackpot, as I found a few sports sections with box scores. Robinson, Snider, Reese, Mantle, etc. The newspapers were local, I seem to recall, so the sports sections were not huge. Seattle was not much of a sports town in that time. I still have a few in my newspaper/magazine clippings collection. I ruined a few by writing on them, laminating them, etc.
In the end, they would not have but worth much of anything even if I had kept them pristine, but it was a cool find and memories of a very different time.
