Never did this before, but I know a number of people are going for the set, and the way the market is, this could go much cheaper than usual.

Last two of these went for $450 and $500, but because of how rare they are, there's always a chance one slips through the cracks and goes cheap, so feel free to bid and hopefully someone here wins.

Bids are of course much appreciated, especially since it's at a measly $56 at this time.

Good luck, I'll bump this for you as I love these cards. Not sure I need another project at the moment though..... ;)

Just an semi-off-subject comment, but I like the way you listed the auction. I noticed it as I was reading it. Good luck!

Appreciate it. It's probably my favorite set of all time, and I was trying to complete it before funds became an issue. I would really not be thrilled if when I sell them I don't get near the recent going rates, as they are cards I would really have liked to hold.

If you're considering the set, I say go for it!! Besides for being stunning, IMO they are a great cardboard investment since every time a new player gets added, more and more people join the hunt and try to complete the set, meaning that the demand is constantly increasing. Throw in the fact that the "live set" means that the set has little chance of being overlooked or forgotten. (This is what convinced me to get in originally, and I still feel strongly about this.)

I appreciate that. I've seen sellers who've cost themselves serious money listing auctions poorly, and I know I can't afford to do that. I've spent a decent amount of time tinkering with different ways of wording the title, and deciding what to put in the description and I think that in general it pays off. (Of course good communication and quick shipping are always key.)

I am currently high bidder. It would be great to add this card, but I won't be able to go too much more than I already bid. :(

I'd be thrilled if it went to a FCB member (though to be honest I'm not picky about who bids :))

I sold my Griffey for $400 a few months ago, though the last one went for $225 or so, so they are really hard to pin down as far as pricing. Before the last one a number had gone in the $300-$350 range I believe, though that was a few months ago. I haven't seen more than one or two in the last few months (though I may have missed some.)

One bump as the auction is ending in under an hour, and it's still an absolute steal.

Here's a link to the last one of these listed which went for $455 (the one before it got $500)

Re: Aaron APOH Bat Card (ends in 30 minutes)

Finished at $357.
I thought there would be a final push from snipers in the final seconds, but it didn't happen.
Still a solid sale, considering the economy.

While the last couple got $455 and $500, I'm with you. I was worried the state of the economy could mean that it would really slip through the cracks and sell for much less so IMO it works for everyone. The buyer (FCB member) should be happy with a price over $100 what they were going for and I got enough to be happy with the price. Can't wait for the economy to turn around though.

Could this be caused by some people who have attempted the set, such as Topnotchsky, to sell off, increasing supply while demand is diminishing?

I think it's a combination of factors, but the economy is definitely a player. The Aaron was a bit of a fluke I imagine (and the fact the bat is a little damaged probably hurt) but that price is insane.

For me it's been a pleasant surprise. I originally picked up the set because I felt that it was a great investment. Being a "living" set there it is unlikely the set will ever be forgotten, and when a new player gets a card, the set heats up big time as new people start going for the set. Right now it's been a while since a new card came out and the economy is having a rough time. While I had to sell some of mine to put together some funds, I was able to make some money, which is nice; and I actually snagged a second Ott a couple weeks ago as the price was back down to $100 or so, meaning that for it's the same great investment as it was a year ago.

The set still has everything going for it. Greatest GU set of all time. "Living" set. Some players awaiting cards, which should be out sooner or later (Manny probably the soonest.) They are stunning to boot. It's a set I'll once again chase when I have the funds, knowing that sometime down the line if I need (or want) to sell, there should be nice profits.
