Congrats to The Hawk. But not putting Alomar in is absurd.

Unbelievable. Think some voters had the mindset of "It's his first year, let him pay his dues!" ???

It shouldnt matter. I dont take the HOF seriously anymore because its nothing but a big joke.

Absurd. Five blank ballots were submitted. I guess it's possible that a couple of writers felt no one was deserving but that leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I guess we have to wait another year to celebrate the first player to go in as a Blue Jay.

Just goes to show everyone that getting all riled up, arguing, and fighting is pointless. There are some sportswriters voting on this stuff that have their agendas and could care less about the hall and couldn't care more about their ego.

I do not feel anyone on the ballot was a slam dunk to make the HOF. If 5 voters felt no one deserved to make it and submitted blank ballots, I have no issue with that.

I feel Alomar and morris deserve to be in, but I do not have a vote.

He'll go in next year. Many of the voters refuse to vote players in on the 1st ballot, thats a known fact. They just don't think these guys are equal to the cream of the crop from the past. Very similar to how some voters won't vote for shoe ins because they don't want someone to get 100% of the vote.

The HOF is somewhat of a joke, but the end result is still ok. The talent level in the overall HOF has gone down with marginal players getting elected over the past few years.

If they felt no one was worthy, than so be it...but Jay Mariotti openly admitted on ATH yesterday that he didn't vote because he doesn't think any of them deserve to be in...ON THE FIRST BALLOT. THAT is a garbage statement.

If you're a HOFer, you're a HOFer, regardless of the year you're on the ballot.

I agree with you on that, pure garbage and games being played by Jay Mariotti and anyone else who feels that way

Ironic as if there was a HOF for douchebaggery or horrible sports 'journalism', Marriotti would be a sure-fire first ballot guy.

How did David Segui get a vote...does his mom have one?

It happens every year, you've just got to ignore those votes...

Yep especially for a player that admitted to using PED. That voter must have voted for all the Steroids cheater.

Seems more like to me he just wanted to slap a more deserving player in the face. I'd imagine this voter to be a mouth-breathing neck-beard who thinks he holds so much power. Instead -- tool bag.

my thoughts on this mess:

Congrats to Andre Dawson and his fans.

I hope Bert Blyleven does not have a fatal heart attack within the next two years before he gets in. I think his strikeout total has been pretty steady since he retired.

Too bad McGriff played a nice first base and wasn't a DH instead- then he would have received at least twice as many votes

I guess Alomar had to win more gold gloves than any other 2B by a WIDER MARGIN to go along with his great offense to be voted into the hall of fame

Too bad not everyone tried to make a statement by voting for David Segui...and he would have made it in ahead of Alomar! That might expose these "learned scholars" with the hall voting power.

Did Andre Dawson's admission just end the discussion that we had on another thread about whether VLad Guerrero is already in the Hall?
