Supposedly the Cubs are one of the teams that he will allow a trade to.

Do you give them any chance of pulling it off?

Things that would have to happen.....

1. Cubs will NOT resign Dempster, unless we can get him for $10 million a year or less

2. Cubs will NOT resign Kerry Wood.

3. Cubs would likely have to include Vitters in the trade.

I would assume they would want a combination of these guys....

Felix Pie
Josh Vitters
Jeff S (notre dame)
Jose Ceda
Sean Marshall
Tyler Colvin
Donald Veal

Anyone have thoughts?

I am adding a poll to the thread, please vote.

I am not sure if not signing Wood would make them go after Peavy since Marmol would likely move up to closer and Samardzija would move to set up. However, if Dempster is not resigned I can see the Cubs trying hard to make a deal happen. Though I think the Cubs will resign both Wood and Dempster.

Only rumors and far far from a done deal but the paper here
has the Cubs possibly offering D Lee, Marshall, Pie, and a few prospects for Pevay and Adrian Gonzo

I don't see it happening (the DLee / AGonzo part)

I would love to see this happen. I am sick of watching D-Lee

Maybe this would do it......

D-Lee
Marshall
Pie
Colvin
Donad Veal

I don't see it happening, and certainly not with Derrek Lee involved. The Pads are trying to rebuild and dump salary, so taking back a highly paid player that's in his 30's doesn't really fit with that plan.

The Cubs really don't have enough for Peavy and especially not Gonzo. I would think any Peavy deal would have to contain Soto. Their farm just isn't good enough.

Do you think that any of the Braves prospects are THAT much better than Josh Vitters?

I am not sure I would take ANY of the guys mentioned from the Braves over Vitters.....

So then, no way in hell do they get Peavy. You should be happy enough that Harden was handed to you.

And I would take EACH of the Braves prospects in that deal over Vitters.

its not about them being BETTER than vitters.

It is about the players filling a position of need. They need a NOW center fielder. That is why the speculation is that they would love to have Jordan Schafer.
