Want to pick up the new issue but don't feel like traveling to the lcs or ordering online. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

In all honesty I'd totally subscribe to Beckett if they got rid of all the pricing and just focused on hobby news, talk, and speculation. What I really want is something that I can read on the crapper.

What's a magazine?

Edit: after some research, I see that these "magazines" are an ancient form of communicating news and information on paper; information that a normal person would just get on the internet.

what's this "Beckett" thing you're asking about?

Oh, It was the most popular sports card magazine for the last decade or so until the past few years when it's become nothing more than stories about cards and reviews of boxes

Walgreens has them, so does CVS

Yes, if they refocused their magazine to be more of a hobby news instead of a price guide i would consider resubscribing.

I think you should get a discount if you bring in a Charzard Pokemon card...

Articles require research and talent. Pricing requires forcefed data. One is cheap and easy, the other is not.

Plus, there is no money in the magazine, so why would they invest in content?

Their focus is grading, and the silly online pricing.

Is there any alternative to Beckett? I mean besides going to eBay and checking completed auctions? I know the values Beckett uses are way off. Really just use it to get an idea of what cards are not commons, especially for rookies and prospects, and to get an idea on rarity to help me organize my cards. Actually always wondered why their values can be so off sometimes.

Gilmo has a few copies in the back - but they come at a cost greater than $$$

At the National last year they had a pretty nice deal. It was $20 for the year for one subscription and you also got to pick some random packs. I ended up hitting a star trek memorabilia card that paid for the subscription.
