in a small sample size, numbers mean VERY little.


I will go with what the scouts eye says vs the numbers.

thats not the only thing.. please.. i think he is another matt bush... and yes Jp we do go to games .. ALOT of THEM , i have seen both prospects in a number of games , not just 1.

I'm not arguing who is the better prospect in terms of dollar figures - it's strictly based on merit on the field. If you indeed attended games which featured both players, performance-wise Flores obviously did much better. However, if you read as many scouting reports as I have you will see Beckham is the more well rounded player, and that many have described him as being a 5-tool guy.

Flores, while excellent with the bat, is average at best defensively. In fairness, he's only 17 and has much more time to work on it.

And both reached the Majors pretty quickly. I see a 2010 ETA for Beckham, if all goes well.

This day and age numbers aren't the only thing looked at, but they sure do mean a lot. You best example is this. is J.R. Towles went from Top Prospect in one season to being a bust in the MLB. Unfortunately he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in the middle of the Atlantic. Literally had a scout tell me he was the streakiest hitter in the minor leagues and he would never get a hot one in the majors. Seemed like that came true...
