Batting .300

I was just checking and this season there are only 17 players batting .300 or higher, and by the end of the week it may be 15.

This is the lowest number in my recent memory...

Just thought it was interesting, guess more power numbers are what people are craving.

Really makes the accomplishments of modern-era players like Pujols, Manny Ramirez and Frank Thomas that much more amazing. Career numbers of >.300 average and >500 HRs!

As much as I dislike Manny being brought up in that bunch because he is awful, it is incredibly impressive when a player, over a sustained period of time hits for a high average and power.
