I just got a call from Beckett stating that a card that I bought online as a bgs raw card review 9.5 is coming back as a 9 "at best" They said someone put the "wrong sticker on it" which I find kind of comical and highly doubt. ( unless they meant that someone tampered with the bgs sticker and switched cards, I hadn't thought of that and they did ask if I graded it or if I bought it online) I'm just hoping that I don't have a tough grader that is going to be equally brutal on the rest of my submission. What are other people's experiences with raw card review orders that come back different? I don't grade very many items, but I am worried a bit about my other grades now. Do I have any recourse with bgs on this card as its raw value is around 300-400 and the difference between a 9.5 and 9 has to be substantial. Luckilly its a PC Card so I wasn't planning on selling it but it's still disappointing.

I wouldn't personally buy a RCR online for fear or tampering. I hope it's just that one card for you too.

I am personally too big of a wuss to submit anything for grading unless I can do it in person.

Wow never heard of this till you mentioned it. I was thinking about getting the cards graded with the RAW review and I thought if it got a 9.5 that's the grade it would get if you slabbed it.

I think you get the original grade just as long as you have Beckett take the cards back for slabbing the same time they review the card. I have heard that if they don't take them at that time you have a chance for your grade to be graded differently even going lower than he reviewed grade. Although, you still have a chance for a higher grade when submitting the reviewed card when taken back if that makes any sense.

So basically I will keep using my times 60 loop for imperfections. The crappy thing for me is the surface I can't judge that very well.

Just to follow up, my grades on the rest of my order published today, and they seemed very fair. I even got my first ever 10. I'll have to be a little more cautious on the RCR cards in the future but I'm glad this wasn't a case of an overly zealous grader.

If you get raw review and the cards don't leave the Beckett booth the raw grades are guaranteed
As soon as you take the cards away from the Beckett booth the grades are not guaranteed bc people could tamper with the card

It's a Beckett rule

So buying raw reviewed cards online is a gamble bc it may not pan out
