Its gotta be Nugent Hopkins IMO. He lost over 20 games to injury and still had as many points as the other two playing on the 2nd worst team in the league.

well its not the NHL who decides who gets the calder its the Professional Hockey Writers' Association who votes on it and since they are from every NHL city in the league there should be no biased. If anything there should be biased against Western teams since most of the PHWA is in the East and many of them are sleeping when games are going on, on the West Coast.
