Thought this would be a fun game. Game is simple - name an All-Star, year, and team from the past that makes you think "Holy cow he was an All-Star?" or "WHO!?"

Let's do it one at a time. I have a few up my sleeve. Try to keep it from an era most of us were watching baseball then. Naming Gus Suhr from the 1936 AS game does us no good b/c none of us were alive to watch the game.

I'll start:

Roger Pavlik - Rangers in 1996.

Rolando Arrojo - 1998 Tampa Bay Devil Rays. I don't think he played but he was on the roster. I was at this game.

Jason Dickson - 1997 for the Angels. I think the guy played like 3 seasons in MLB.

Mike Williams had a 6.62 ERA and five blown saves when he was picked to represent the Pirates in 2003.

Jose Hernandez, 2002 (the Tie Game), for Milwaukee. Oddly enough, the Brewers also sent Richie Sexson, meaning there was less of a reason for Hernandez. That was also the year that he struck out 188 times.

Whatever year Robert Fick was elected.

Alfredo Griffin was selected in 1984 due to Trammell's injury. He had 3 walks total and was batting .241

KC catcher, Salvador Perez - 2013
He may be hitting .300, but most fans outside of Kansas City probably never heard of him, including me.

Ken Schrom - Indians 1986

I do not think even Indians fans know who he is...

Putting together a 10-2 record and 4.17 ERA at the break he ended the season with a 14-7 and a 4.54 ERA. Getting the AS call over teammates Joe Carter, Julio Franco, and Brett Butler yet never getting the call to the mound, Schroms 7 year career came to a end in 1988.

1999 Jeff Zimmerman, Rangers pitcher
He made the team as a rookie, but was out of baseball two years later because of injuries.

John Stearns, lone - and multiple - AS on some really bad Mets teams. Made the '80 AS squad and didn't even hit a HR all season!

"Fausto Carmona" doesn't even exist anymore.
