In the last few months, I've noticed my shipping packages, especially the PWE ones, getting scanned a lot less on their way to the destination.

Not entirely uncommon, so I didn't think much of it.

But it turns out it's part of a new USPS system.

It's caught attention due to changes in Mail in voting, but it will affect sellers.

So now the USPS system doesn't consider something postmarked until it's first scanned in, which usually doesn't happen til it hits a Distribution Center, if then. Especially if you just drop it in the mailbox by the Post office.

Which might not happen til a few days after dropping it off at the Post Office.

I've noticed this happening a lot, even on non-PWE packages and mailers.

I suggest instead of just dropping it in the mailbox outside the Office, taking it in and having them scan it in. My local PO does this willingly but we're not that busy of a station.

Hope that all helps...
