Oh yeah, that money could have gotten you a couple awesome Josh Freeman cards...

Seriously though, too early to tell. It won't take much for Vereen to be a hot commodity. Pats fans are a bit insane IMO.

It takes 1 game to turn that into a good buy in the NFL, but who knows if he will amount to anything...hard to price a 1/1 as well.

Keep in mind that you didnt buy a rookie card super, its an insert. Id have been good with 70, but 125 is a good bit for that. If youre happy, thats all that matters.

He was 5th on the depth chart at RB for the Patriots this season. Green-Ellis and Woodhead are both signed through at least next year I believe. Steven Ridley has really come alive over the past few weeks and likely could be the starting RB next season. I really don't see Vereen ever becoming the lead RB, as Belicheck rarely (if ever) really goes with 1 RB

it has nothing to do with fans or even who is on the card, even though who is on the card isn't that much.

1) Its not a RC, its an insert RC
2) Sticker autos suck
3) Finest 1/1's never appreciate in value, everyone is looking for topps chrome.
4) TERRIBLE time to buy, the season is over, 99% chance this guy will not touch the ball for the Pats in the playoffs
and everything 2011 is in depreciation mode. In a few months everyone will be looking for the 2012 class.

125 was way too high, I wouldn't pay half that. Lesson learned.

1) When it was 2005, you could have bought a Topps Chrome Aaron Rodgers Uncirculated INSERT RC AUTO for $40. In 2012, that card will run you over $800.

2) Matter of opinion. Again back to the 2005 Rodgers auto, that silver sticker is AWFUL LOOKING. People are still buying the crap out of it though.

3) Are you smoking crack? How on earth would you be able to guage that? If the player is hyped beyond all hope (Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, etc) of course it won't go higher.

4) If you are thinking about a short-term flip, yes it's the wrong time to buy. If, however, you buy now and sell during a good showing in the preseason, profit can be made. Ask anyone who had Mike Williams cards at the beginning of the 2010 season. His exquisite went from $10 to $125 because he was a monster in PRESEASON.

Thanks,
Chris

Keep Brady Quinn out of this :)

Congrats on the pickup! Is a PC card or do you intend to move it?

nice card, but a bit busy. I pulled his inception on-card auto 1/1 and am hoping for a little vereen hype next year. one game is all it takes.

guy got hosed, even with you quoting me the one exception. That card will NEVER sell for even close to 125 unless he
delivers multiple great games in the regular season...and we all know at the end of the day when Rodger is long retired
that ugly ass bowman card won't be worth 50 bucks!

Sell high, buy low, I think the OP was on the other end of that.

when he retires, it will double...retirement, HOF, and death AUTOMATICALLY INCREASE HYPE, your "$50" x about 100

Honestly, you overpaid, it is a 1/1 super yes but it is unrealistic that this guy will be ANY good at all so I think you'll probably lose $120 on that investment by the end of this guys career, it will still be a cool 1/1 but unfortunately he's a nobody

So after only one season, you feel confident saying that a second round draft pick is a nobody, and it's unrealistic that he'll be any good at all? Are you a talent scout? Too bad the Pats front office didn't have you in it, you could have helped them pick a much better player with their 56th pick.

I'm not saying the guy is the second coming of Jim Brown, but it's also way too early to say that he's a nobody and he won't be any good. A rookie season does not a career make.

You can never overpay for a 1/1 super.

Some may say that comparitively speaking it 'should' be worth this or that, but it's speculation at best. A 1/1 super is worth exactly what you bought or sold it for, no more no less. This can be argued to the end of time but it will still be fruitless. If you paid X ammount of dollars for it, then that is exactly what it was worth to you, and being a super 1/1 that dictates the market. It only takes one buyer to specificly dictate the market on any given super 1/1. What should it be worth, what could it be worth, comparing it to anything else as if all else is equal goes out the window. If you ever sell it, then that buyer will dictate what it's worth, ect... Sometimes the value of a super goes beyond traditional measures like actual production of said athlete. Thoes who can not see beyond this will not understand.

I wish I could have overpaid for a Michael Turner 1/1 back in 2004. He was a later round pick behind LT, and would never see the field. What a nobody.
