i have been a member since jan. 26, 2000. i have 7216 positive transactions, with 1124 in just the past year. i have 100% positive feedback, no neutral or negative feedback. i have no open cases against me and have not had any in over a year. my d.s.r. are 5, 5, 5, 4.7. and all of this does not meet ebay requirements because i have had 21 low d.s.r. in the shipping charges catagory in the past year. i only charge $2.99 for shipping. so because 21 unrealistic people left low ratings, out of 1124 satisfied customers, im banned from selling on ebay forever. the person that i talked to would not even let me speak to a supervisor. said there was nothing that they could do for me so allowing me to speak to a supervisor would do no good. he also said that ebay thinks it would be better if i chose another venue for my business. meaning that i should sell somewhere other that ebay. can you believe this. im pretty much a model seller. go ahead and look at my ratings for yourself. just thought some of you sellers might want to hear about this.

I have no idea why you would be banned for low DSRs in the past year? I thought it was calculated based on the past month, so wait a couple days and it will probably resolve itself.

I got the same thing this morning. I've got 99.8 positive. and DSR's of 4.9, 4.9, 4.9, and 4.7. I had 4 cases, all quickly resolved that put me over the edge apparently. I'm not pleased at all.

According to the rep I spoke with this morning it's based on the past 12 months.

This has been discussed when these bans first started popping up a month or two ago.

Basically, eBay wants sellers who don't charge shipping...and they yet they require DC for Paypal.

It's a matter of time before all of us get dinged if we don't offer free shipping.

For me, I throw in extras with virtually all packages. Is it bribery? Absolutely, but me giving away a $1 card is a lot better than losing out on $3 shipping.

I read somewhere that Ebay just kicked off approximately 20,000 sellers because of DSR's ratings. I don't understand it, if your feedback is perfect, there is no reason for them to get rid of sellers like you, plus, they are losing all the money that you have made them.

Absolutely ridiculous. In all seriousness, you should sue them for setting a precedent, letting you sell for YEARS and then pulling the rug out from under you (thus hindering your ability to make money) by creating completely unfair and unrealistic protocol. It's COMPLETELY unfair business practice on their part and I hope someone takes action.

The way I understand it is as time goes by those bad DSRs drop off and you will be allowed to sell again. I know 2.99 is not a lot of money to charge for shipping but people expect free shipping now, and that is what ebay is pushing for. Although it is not practical with low end sports cards. I moved to $2.25 for shipping and have a 4.9 for that catagory.

What levels do your DSRs have to be at for them to ban you? I have 4.9/4.9/4.8/4.8, will I be banned if one of those drops to 4.7?

I sell a lot of books, people need to realize that Media Mail can take up to a week.

it is simple sell under a new ID and offer free shipping with delivery com. and stop using the .99 starting point! list it at 5 bucks. also, i hate it when people list a $2 card for 1 cent and charge $3 to ship. WHY BOTHER!

ebay wants to make more money by having you pay for shipping, so they get higher ending prices in auctions. They want the bulk sellers to takeover and the small sellers to go away.

I believe that by doing this, Ebay is definitely trying to force sellers into offering free shipping to gain more fees. Even though they lose the fees from the sellers they ban from selling, it's just a drop in the bucket short term. By creating the fear of "offer free shipping or be banned from selling", it forces a lot of remaining sellers to do so (or at least lower shipping prices accordingly, and in theory resulting in higher FVF's for ebay).

The only alternative is to leave Ebay, and at this juncture, there isn't another viable option that offers the same exposure and recognition for sellers that Ebay does. It's either take a hit on Ebay, or leave and go elsewhere which will likely result in a bigger hit due to lower sales (for most).

Ebay knows exactly what they're doing. It makes perfect sense for them financially.

Damnit. Haven't gotten anything yet, really hope I don't seeing as I have 100% with no neutrals/negs ever. Did they just cancel your current auctions or what?

Listing fees. They go up with a higher starting price. And buyer tendencies indicate that a 1 cent listing with 3 bucks shipping has a better chance of selling than a $3 listing with free shipping.

to be clear about this, ebay is not restricting my selling abilities for a given period of time, they have terminated it forever as far as selling on ebay goes. they said my account will stay open so i am still allowed to buy on ebay. seriously. and my ratings are 5, 5, 5, 4.7 for the guy who asked.
