I wasn't around the hobby then, but I assume Gordon Beckham and Viciedo were pretty hot at release.

Yes absolutely. 2008. I never bought them so I didn't even think about them but you're absolutely right. Anybody know the peak value on those two?

4 more from 2010 Draft. Bryce Brentz, Zack Cox, Drew Pomeranz, Josh Sale. Believe all 4 were $20 or more at one time and are relatively worthless now.

Get rid of 'em at the right time and you've got nothing to worry about.

Exactly. I made some money with Montgomery, Ackley and a butt ton off a Joba Ref and a Joba Xfractor that I pulled from 07 Chrome retail! I got $200 for the ref and $290 for the xfractor

By the way I wasn't necessarily limiting my list to those hot upon release. Franklin was $12 and Montgomery was about $6 when the product came out but rose in price at some point

It would be easier to name the ones that worked out up to 2011:

01: Pujols
02: Wright, Mauer
03: McCann, H Ramirez, Youkilus*
04: F Hernandez, G Gonzalez*, H Bailey*, N Walker*, McCutchen AFLAC, Upton AFLAC
05: Kemp, Verlander, B Butler*, Morse*, Bourn*, Weaver*, Braun**, Ellsbury, R Zimmerman*, Garza*, Rasmus*
06: Lester*, Upton, A Gordon*, Kershaw, Longoria, Fielder, Bautista
07: Lincecum, D'Arnaud, Samardzjia*, Pence*
08: D Price, J Heyward, Posey, Stanton, J Zimmerman*, Bumgarner, Flores, Arencibia*, chrisenhall* Latos*, J Parker*
09: Trout, Wheeler, Craig*, C Johnson*, Freeman, Minor*, C Santana*
10: Strasburg*, Castro*, W Myers, Sano, S Miller, Machado, Harvey, Franklin*, Rizzo*, Sale*, Teheran*, Yelich, B Miller*, Syndergaard, Arenado*, Chapman*, Olt*, Iglesias*, Taillon*
11: Harper, Lawrie*, Hosmer*, Profar, Goldschmidt, S Marte*, M Moore*, Bundy, Bradley*, Baez, Lindor, Starling*, J Fernandez, Springer, Vogelbach*, Belt*, Segura, K, Davis*

*=debate-able

The list gets more debatable the newer the product, but you get the point.

I pulled a Trevor Bauer Ref auto from Bowman Draft and it paid for my box. Now they're going for $15-$20. His BGS 9.5 base autos barely go for $20. Bet he blames his failures on Obama!

Well you also have Matt Laporta too.

It's funny a guy says he doesn't prospect and another person tells him if he sells at the right time he has nothing to worry about. My question would be, what's something like that do to the hobby? Not trying to go off on a rant here since I do a little prospecting(but to keep...just ask me about my Blake Beavan stash...) but this could really drive out a new collector or even an old one. You always have the nightmare of overpaying for cards lingering over you but a product like Bowman is like a poison pond in the middle of the Sahara.

Hochevar and Alex Gordon sold pretty high at first. Gordon has redeemed himself, but those card price aren't close to what they used to be.

How about Dice-K? I know he wasn't a "prospect" per se, but he's fallen off to nothing now. Borchering was pretty high too.
