I have a Frank Thomas Crusade Red CTA 4 of 25, that I'm thinking of selling. Could anyone just put me in the " ballpark " as to it's worth, or what I should expect to get.

Thanks

I think $750-$1,100 is a more realistic number, from past sales of big stars in recent years. But Thomas collectors get a little crazy from time to time, it's possible you could get more if the stars align right.

congrats, nice card.

Im guessing about 2 grand.
Little High I would think.
If that's the case, My Ripken should be closer to $3k. :)
But even the Griffey Red gets about that.

There are some very hardcore Thomas fans on this board that might be very interested. I'd check there first. Gorgeous card!

I dont follow Crusades as closely as others, but I think somewhere in the neighborhood of $1k would be about right. Probably a bit more. Good Luck. :)

I second this.

Yeah, the one that sold for $511 sold at the hype of the Crusades when the Griffey sold for all those thousands.

These cards are very hard to come by, especially the red versions. The Greens were numbered to around 250, with the purples to 100 and the reds to 25. They don't show up alot as they came out of products that are still sitting in storage unopened. They are one of the few #'d inserts that still command a premium with player collectors today. And another note, they are very beautiful if you have one in hand.

ok.. sorry, I thought you Thomas guys were nuts but I guess maybe weaker by far.
something was thinking slightly above Ripken but below Griffey. how soon I forget nobody gives as **** about the guy.. :?

either way, its total BS for a card to go under a grand that is that valuable. I would wait until a lot of Thomas collectors have their money ready before you even sell. these cards can explode up quickly.

I'd agree with everything here but would say they have generally been easy to find on ebay - right now there are 200 of them there and I'd suspect a bunch more are on Beckett. A specific player may be tough to find just like any other set though.

A few guys were trying to corner the market on these for years building up a big stash and then decided to sell within the last couple years.

Thanks, magic.

As an example, I paid $80 for the Tony Clark red and paid a little over $12 for a 1/1 from 2003 Donruss. Only a 5 year difference, but by that point the market was way over-saturated with 1/1's and other low #ed cards.
