Ultimately in the end, Griffey is arguably the best player of the 90's and Pujols will end up being the best player of the 00's.
You can't go wrong either way.

Griffey also never put up huge batting averages as Pujols does.

fengzhang said:In their primes, I'd take Griffey. Griffey in his prime had more power and was more of a RBI machine. Pujols is probably the better hitter (higher batting average, less strikeouts) but in my opinion, for a slugger, OPS and HR/AB, RBI/AB, and RUNS/AB are more important statistics.
The biggest difference is in their defense. Pujols is no slouch but Griffey was one of the greatest centerfielders to play the game.
Griffey looked like a lock for greatness and 756 HR's and he tailed off massively. It will be interesting to see what happens with Pujols and his injuries.

IndyMann said:I voted for Griffey because he's my all-time favorite. I don't think you can compare the two because of the positions they play. They're both great. Pujols will be the better hitter when it's all said and done, IMO. Griffey however will have been the better player.
