I know it's still a little early, but I saw the 2013 goals thread, so I figured it would be good to go back and look at last year's goals.
Here's last year's thread:
http://www.freedomcardboard.com/forum/threads/95349-Collecting-goals-for-2012?highlight=2012+goals

As for my goals, I didn't do so well:
For Carlos Zambrano
1. 2012 game used jersey FAIL: Zambrano getting traded really made these first 2 hard
2. 2012 game used bat FAIL
3. Try to find another game used fielding glove (maybe this year) FAIL
4. Get a game used jersey from one of the remaining 3 years I need (2001, 2004, 2006) GREAT SUCCESS: Got a 2001 Minor League jersey and two 2006 jerseys!
5. Add 5 autos to give me over 80% of all Z autos including 1/1s SUCCESS/FAIL: I added 5 new autos, but Zambrano had 3 autos in 2012 SP Signature so I am still only at 78.4%

For Starlin Castro
1. 2012 game used jersey SUCCESS: Got a home jersey
2. 2012 game used bat GREAT SUCESS: Got 4 bats
3. 2012 game used helmet SUCCESS
4. 2012 game used cleats SUCCESS
5. 2012 game used batting gloves GREAT SUCCESS: Got 3 pairs (home, away, and all-star)
6. 2009 Bowman Chrome red refractor /5 FAIL: Still looking; wish I would have just hit the $500 BIN in 2009
7. 2009 Bowman Chrome superfractor /1 FAIL: Ah a guy can dream

Still a very good collecting year, and I look forward to 2013.
I guess I need some new goals this year. Hmmmm...
Anyways you can post your new goals here:

My only goal was to not spend any "new" money on cards. Meaning for anything I wanted to get this year, I would have to fund it through sales from my existing inventory. So far I have sold enough that paid for my case of Bowman & Bowman Chrome, as well as enough for my jumbo case of Draft. I'm 80% there on a master case of Sterling, with continued sales and anything flipped from Draft I should have that paid for before release.....

Fail: Completing my 1958 Topps set. Only a few cards short. That's my 2013 goal.

Success: Completing my 1980s Topps, Donruss and Fleer sets.

Success: Spending money on cards only received from eBay selling unwanted cards, plus garage sale and thrift store finds.

Fail and Success: Having to sell some awesome Andre Ethier cards because I was temporarily out of work was a fail. But it was a success because I did make a huge profit on them (especially his 2005 Topps Chrome Red Autographed rookie #/25), since I bought cheaply in 2005 and sold at this season's peak, when he was leading the NL in RBI and hitting for a high average. I lucked out with the timing on that, as his cards were in big demand that month.

Fail: Sending out more vintage cards to retired stars to be autographed TTM. I was too busy, and too lazy, to do that this year. But it's a goal for 2013.
So many 1950s and 1960s players are passing away, so I need to send those cards out while I still have a chance.

1. Get to 1500 Troy Glaus cards (I'm at 930 now). I have almost all his base cards, and a decent % of his low level inserts and parallels. Goal 1A would be to track down a reasonably priced copy of his Leaf R&S RC.
2. Get to 1200 Scott Rolen cards (At 850 right now).
3. Double my collections of some players I've been slightly ignoring: Ted Simmons (34 cards), Ron Santo (39), Bob Boone (46), Bruce Sutter (60), Chili Davis (89), Gabe Kapler (93), Alan Trammell (128)
4. Get GU cards of the following PC players who I don't have any GU yet: George Brett, Carl Crawford, Cole Hamels, Derek Lowe, Kevin Youkilis, Carl Yastrzemski, Adrian Gonzalez, Tim Wakefield, and Duke Snider.
5. Complete all the annoying low-end sets that I'm a few cards short of completing (2005-2011 Topps, 2006-2010 UD, 2009-2010 Heritage, etc.)
6. Acquire a true 1/1, not a plate or something from Topps M&M.
7. Complete my 2008 UD Heroes ultra-rainbow (all base and parallels for all my PC players in the set).
8. Find someone to give me something for my Mike Cameron collection.
9. Become the Dick Pole Supercollector.

1. FAIL - Only made it to 1211 Glaus cards as of this morning (didn't get that Leaf R&S either). I've knocked out almost all base cards, and higher # parallels and inserts, so it's getting harder now to add new ones.
2. FAIL - As of this morning, just 1079 Rolens.
3. FAIL - Ted Simmons: 39; Ron Santo: 44; Bob Boone: 57; Bruce Sutter: 76; Chili Davis: 113; Gabe Kapler: 125; Alan Trammell: 158
4. PASS - Crawford and Gonzalez are no longer in my PC, but I have added GU of Brett, Hamels, Youkilis, Wakefield, and Snider. Still missing Lowe and Yaz, so it's a low passing grade.
5. FAIL FAIL FAIL - Haven't completed any set I was actively working on at this time last year.
6. PASS - I did pull a Cole Hamels All Star Stitches Platinum from 2012 Topps Update.
7. FAIL - It will be well over 300 cards by the time I'm finished, and I have less than 150.
8. FAIL - Ended up giving a lot of my Camerons away to a local shop to give out to kids.
9. GETTING THERE - I'll never be the Supercollector until I track down the 2003 Sweet Spot Mystery Auto 1/1, but I did pick up some tough early 80's minor league issues.

I suck.

Pay down debt. 110% of the goal I had but still need to get it all gone.
Weight loss 90% of my goal and now I need to maintain it.
Eating healthier 75% this can be tough sometimes since the same things can be boring. And some times I crave them.
Working out 60% since i had to fit it in and now I have it on track.
Saving Money 50% see the first thing I posted
Doing more volunteering 100% since this was something I was doing already, I found more things to get involved with.
Spending more time with my family 80% since this was very low before other then with the wife and kids.

Previous goals:
1) Keep collecting Sizemore and Thomas, filling in key slots on my want list as available.
-Made some great key pickups of both guys, especially in the last month.
2) Make progress towards completing 1941 Play Ball and 1955 Bowman, both of which are approaching the 20-year mark.
-Knocked a chunk off my 55B list, but it's been sporadic. I haven't been able to add much to my 41 set, though I'm real close to biting the bullet on the DiMaggio and/or Williams cards. It'll be easy once I choke those down.
3) Don't rip wax or begin any new sets unless I am really serious about them.
-I usually have an insert set or two in progress, but started no new sets this year. PSA Set Registry is calling me, might have to give in to the demon slabs again.

Future goals are the same. 1933 Goudey in PSA 4+ seems like a possibility, but those Ruths make my head hurt.

So, sportscards are not exciting at the moment, my comic collecting consists of keeping up with new issues, and my Magic collection is pretty complete. I think I might need a new hobby. Maybe restoring an old car.

1) Reach 100 pack issued / company issued (blank back jive) 1/1's of Josh Johnson. SUCCESS ! I believe I'm near 100 as of right now, especially after the monster box comes in from Leland, IL

2) Reach 750 autographed pack issued cards of Josh Johnson (around 500 now) Right around 750 as we speak. Probably north of it, so a big SUCCESS right here

3) Go to the Marlins / Cardinals opener Couldn't do that being 15,000 miles away from Miami

4) Get about a dozen things personalized to my daughter, most of which I'll have to use connections on here or Facebook and then Twins Fest for her. I got a few last year, but I want to really ramp up her collection this upcoming year (got a money order in the mail for an auto'd "Outlaw" Ron Bass 8x10 now ) Another huge FAIL. All my connections helped me zero percent. XXXXing ****** bags

5) Find the '06 Ultimate Dual Logo of Josh Johnson & Joel Zumaya and acquire it Another massive FAIL

6) Acquire the '06 Ultimate Triple Auto 1/1 of Johnson, Verlander & Weaver. I know where it's at, the person just doesn't want to sell it ... FML Another massive FAIL

7) Meet or correspond with Josh Johnson. Big fail there

8) Go to one of the bigger Twin Cities Shows, since there'll be no Nationals this year for me. Made it to 3 Star Sports at the end of April, when we arrived back home from the Philippines, but no other shows in the area and w/out reliable transportation, it made it that much tougher

9) As painstakingly painful it is for me to type this, sell anything of Johnson that I've got dupes of if he is white hot again this season. There's stuff that went for $120 in April that I picked up for $25 in September. ::facepalm:: Sold nothing, because he had a brutal season

10) Load up before the season on anything unique, rare or just eye catching of Johnson. Did well in this regard. Picked up a bunch of stuff even when I was in the Philippines for a month

My ongoing collecting goal is to pickup new Albert Pujols oddball cards or ones that I was not aware of like the the Topps Japanese SEGA-Gen card seen in a recent thread. As far as personal goals, I did jog 10 miles on Saturday for the first time in my life...not bad for a person with diabetes for the past 31 years (I am 43 now).

I pretty much failed every single one of my goals.

A lack of solid money flow pretty much hurt me from the get go. I never really had a truly stable job and any and all money I made either went to bills or paying down debt (plus, food ya know).

Next year will hopefully be much better, but I have no clue what my goals will actually be yet. I need to see where I am at with all numbers in my collection and make a determination from there, but I might have to aim a little lower next year (in a better paying job now, but we are paying off my wife's student loan debt and just recently picked up a 2nd vehicle to make our work schedule easier).

1) Unload 90% of my cards. Base, inserts, most of my GU/numbered. All sports. - No. I moved maybe 30%. I had a lot more than originally thought.
2) Finish my '69 Deckle Edge Set. - No. I maybe got halfway through it before setting it aside. It's still a goal though.
3) Obtain 100 more cards for my 1958 set No. This set really dropped off. I maybe obtained 20 cards, and that's a high estimate.
4) TTM more. Certs don't really do it for me. Surprisingly No.
5) Learn framing. I will mainly use it for framing my index cards with 8x10s Yes, sort of. I began the process of learning how to frame. Now I am trying to find a mat cutter to continue the process
6) Move my focus to vintage. Modern cards aren't that great to me. Yup. Modern cards are boring. I obtained quite a few vintage cards.
