Back in 1977, the Dodgers became the first team in MLB history to feature 4 different players with 30 HRs or more. They matched that feat again in 1997 as well. There have only been 14 teams total to achieve this feat and the Braves just matched the 2019 Twins as only the 2nd team in history with 5 players to do it this year!

Teams sporting 4 players with 100 or more RBIs is a little more common, but not by much. The record is 5 by the 1936 Yankees and a couple of late 1800s team. About 30 teams have accomplished 4 players with 100 or more RBIs, including the Dodgers for the first time in their franchise surprisingly enough, as JD Martinez just joined Max Muncy, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts in the 100 RBI club this year. They are only the 4th team (00 Angels, 03 Braves, 21 Blue Jays) to do this since 1999, when incredibly 5 teams (Yankees, Rangers, Rockies, Diamond Backs and Indians) all did it that season!

Here is where the crossover comes in. Out of all of those teams to either field (4) 30 HR players or (4) 100 RBI players, only 2 teams have had both! Both times, it was done by the Rockies. First time in 1996, then again in 1999. Dante Bichette and Vinny Castilla were on both teams. Andres Galarraga and Ellis Burks were the other pair in 1996 and Larry Walker and Todd Helton were the other pair in 1999. Given the reputation for HRs in Colorado and the fact that no other team has ever accomplished this before or since, some may say this record shouldn't even count.

However, this season 2 teams are dangerously close to doing it.

The Braves have a legitimate chance of fielding FIVE players with both 30+ HRS and 100+ RBIs if Marcell Ozuna and Austn Riley can knock in 7 and 4 runs respectively. Both are already at 30 or more HRs.

On the flip side, Freddie Freeman needs 2 more HRs to also give the Dodgers that feat.

With only a handful of regular season games left, it would be amazing to see both teams do this year and so much more satisfying for me to see that happen and make the Dodgers a 3 time (4X) 30 HR team. The Rockies (4) and Braves (2) being the only team to field the (4) 30 HR roster in multiple years.

C'mon Freddie!!!

Well, Ozuna got to 100 RBIs exactly, so the 2023 Braves become only the 3 team (2nd Franchise) to field 4 players with at least 30 HRs and 100 RBIs. Austin Riley failed to reach 100, finishing 3 short at 97. So close!

Meanwhile on the West Coast, Freddie Freeman also failed to get that last HR, finishing with 29. He also finished with 59 doubles. Amazing season none the less. Hoping the Dodgers do well in the playoffs.
