I can't even remember the last Mattingly card that I picked up. I'm not sure what the reason is....it just isn't as fun as it used to be. I've started picking up former University of Kentucky basketball player's rookies and autos and having a BLAST. And collecting those is quite a bit cheaper than collecting Mattingly. Also, extra money certainly wouldn't hurt right now, as Ebay sales have slowed and I'm trying to decide my job future.

I'm just worried I would regret selling everything a few years from now.

I don't know...I'm just rambling. Any other player collectors thought about selling off their collection?

I've sold portions lately that to me aren't essential. It's been nice and I don't really miss those items. Plus I am also selling off tons of doubles I have.

I really don't keep doubles. And I think if I sold it, I would try to sell the whole thing..cards, bobbles, everything.

I'd hold onto the cards for a little longer. If you need the cash now, then sell. Within time, you should know whether you want to keep or not.

If you think you want to sell, consider keeping certain cards/memorabilia that means something to you - like maybe the stuff made during his Yankee playing years. If I were a player collector I can see anything else (before or after) becoming frustrating after a while.

I've been working on getting rid of my Bernie collection for awhile, and I really haven't missed anything as much as I thought I would. I was bored with it, as well. I didn't have anywhere close to the volume or value you have with Mattingly's, though. Put a little more thought into it, you've got a lot of time and money invested. Best of luck either way.

Can't go wrong with collecting UK stuff that and my Detroit Tigers stuff are my favorite part of my collection. At one time I made a list of every RC of everybody that ever played at UK in Basketball, Football and baseball. Then like 2 days after I finished it my computer melted down and I had not burned it to a disk yet. ::facepalm:: Been meaning to start it again. Right now I am a couple baseball and Football players away from all the UK players who have certified auto and GU.

Mattingly's stuff is not something that is going to go down in price as with most retired guys thier prices level off (As they neither go up or down to much, if anything up) , so I would wait it out about a month or 2 and if you still feel the same then I would sell. Good luck!
