As my signature sums up, my project for the year is 25 Miguel Montero autos..

Beyond that, 2009 is the year I start building a Tony Gwynn PC. Now, I surely can't afford the autos and patches and what not, but I'd love to see them all the same. Show 'em if ya got 'em!

It's Nojo time. 8-)

.....Pardon?

Nojo is the FCB resident Gwynn collector....Really nice PC. I see him lurking in the baseball forums so I expect him to post some of his cards soon :)

Good LORD. There are some incredible cards popping up already. The Showcase is absolutely sick. I've never had a chance to see either of those rookies, so that was a huge plus.

The auto is flat out nice... Good luck on finishing the set up!

Ah, Gwynn is my project for sure. I decided to stop hoarding Green so hard. I'll still pick them up occasionally, but for the most part I'm happy with where I am.

Gwynn is my first crack at a HOF pc, and hopefully one I can focus on for the entire course of '09. We'll see what happens.

All that aside, though.. How have you been? It's been awhile since I've talked with you. Hope all is well. Take care, and thanks very much for taking the time to reply to my lil old thread. I appreciate it!

I've collected some Gwynn stuff over the years. I always liked him as a player and after I met him at a show down in Chicago toward the end of his career, I came away really impressed. Here are the autos I have scanned. In addition, I have an IP signed ball and 8x10 as well as a UD certified signed batting helmet and Padres jersey which were both redemptions from 2002 UD Authentics.

:o  :o Excuse me while I find my jaw and clean the drool from my desk.

Thanks SO much for sharing all of those scans! It definitely helped me fill out a little of my "cards to gun for" list. Unreal collection. Thanks for sharing it!

WOWOW!!! Some very nice cards everyone!

Gwynn is great to collect...solid HOF'er, one of the best pure hitters of recent times, and a class act who stayed with the same team his entire career. Not too terribly expensive IMHO, although I never say that when I get outbid on something :)

Anyways...hmm...in no particular order!

Here are 4 of the many RC's I've got of Gwynn

img036.jpg

Seeing the Gwynn rookie reminded me of a good story.

For Easter in 1983, my parents hid packs of 1983 Topps throughout our living room along with candy. It was such a memorable event that I told my future wife about it being the best Easter ever.

In 1997, my wife and I got an apartment near my parents and needed some furniture, so my parents offered up their 20 year old sofa.

While cleaning the sofa, I was digging down in the crevice, and you guessed it, found a pack of 1983 Topps. I waited about 10 seconds debating if I should open it and when I did, pulled the Gwynn rookie!

Been in the PC ever since.
