Why not retire? He has his money....he doesn't crave the spotlight or media attention. He is a weird dude....trust me, I saw "act" in Cleveland long before he got to the Red Sox and the nation got to see Manny-being-Manny. He would miss the base rounding second, forget to tag-up and believe it or not....his skills in the outfield have improved ten fold since leaving Cleveland.

He might be very happy to ride off into the sunset and never be heard from again.....just like Barry Sanders.

Good riddance if he does go. At least he's finally been exposed as a piece of trash. He may be a legendary hitter but his attitude kills it.

I would love to see him retire. After the incident last year with him hitting the clubhouse attendant and the media saying it was just Manny being Manny, I've had enough of this guy!

You better sign him to a one year deal if you want similar production to last year.

The only difference is Sanders left quietly. He didn't threaten to do it. He just did it.

Manny has come out and said he isnt going to retire. He says he wants to hit 700 homeruns.

Not that he wants to help a team win a championship, not that he wants to help young players get better. Not that he wants to strive for team sucess, but that HE wants 700.

Thats manny allright...

Why is it always the ones with lousy and/or controversial dispositions that are intent on breaking career HR records?

wake up Omar :)

Sorry E, but that just can't happen. Before you know it, Vegas will be taking bets each week on how many saves Manny rips from Krods grasp.

I am a HUGE Manny fan and he isn't going to retire. He will get his money from someone and he will still hit the piss out of the ball, like he always has. Love him or hate him - he is a first ballot HOF.

WAR MANNY!

Plus, the way the roster is now, theres going to be a serious lack of run support

I don't know how anybody is a big fan of Manny at this point. No offense or anything. It's just that this is a prime example of what kind of person he is. Is it that he doesn't have enough millions of dollars, or just that being ignored is getting to him that much? I guess he couldn't stand to be out of the spotlight for like 3 weeks in a row and had to draw some attention to himself. Sad.
