So what do you guys think the safest bet in @mrmopar contest would be? I'm surprised there really isn't one anymore. There was a time where Ichiro would lead the league in hits every year or Randy Johnson in K's but there doesn't seem to be that guy now. I was thinking Kershaw but he is getting long in the toof.

I am surprised by 3 guesses with 200+ hits so far. That seems to be much tougher these days. I agree though, there does not seem to be anyone that dominates a stat category like days gone by. That makes it more exciting, at least for me, as I watch the leads trading back and forth as the season progresses.

Then again, just went and checked and it seems I don't know what I am talking about! Only a handful of seasons since the 90s where someone failed to get at least 200 hits. Strike in 94 and the Covid season don't count.

2018 (192) Merrifield
2013 (199) Carpenter & Beltre
1995 (197) Bichette & Gwynn
1990 (199) McGee

Before that, excluding yet another strike year in 1981 as well as a small one in 1972 (Rose had 198), you have to go back to 1960.

1960 (190) Mays
1952 (194) Musial

Then way back...

1919 (191) Cobb & Veach
1918 (178) Burns
1913 (197) Jackson
1902 (193) Beaumont & Hickman

Before the 1900s, it was less commonplace to see 200 hits, but it was done.

You should really make a pick, and then if you're right everyone has to pay up! :)

All I know is the Dodgers are going to win a shtload of games this year, which means their SP win totals are going to be inflated. I could have picked the wrong Dodger though....

Any news guys? Any monster pulls? (cards, not your wang)

Not so much a monster pull as much as a monster find. Going through boxes of cards to see what I can get rid of and I came across this. I will probably sell since I don't really collect him.

Very nice! I came across my only football investments the other day. I had a chance in 2012 to buy someone from the '12 draft class of the Seahawks. It was between Russell Wilson and Robert Turbin. I ended up going with Turbin as 1. turbins keep your head cool in the sun (or protected or something?) and 2. he has really big biceps.

Needless to say your football collection is a tad better than mine.
