I was surprised the 49ers weren't after him. Herm Edwards was on NFL Live and made a pretty compelling case for that scenario. Guess now it's the Redskins gain and now the pressure is REALLY on Kolb to produce.

The 49ers management has basically given out the idea that they don't see an issue at the QB position short-term. Internally, I bet they've set an ultimatum that Smith either will produce, or everyone on the depth chart except Nate Davis is out next year. Then they'll draft another long-term franchise QB or sign one in the open market. Or both.

Why give up on Smith when he is finally coming around? His career has been effected by a lack of surrounding talent and inconsistent coaching. He came into the league very young and can still have a bright future.

I couldnt agree more as a life long Raiders fan im getting really sick of all the ******** Al does. Now they will screw up the draft and we will spend more money on some wasted pick and be more in the hole then we are already.
