According to rotoworld's twitter. I watched this kid throw a minor league game in the rain a week ago in Arizona. He is very special. Could turn into a 1A behind Felix.

No surprise after the spring he's had, but glad to have him in the rotation. I watched him dominate Saturday against the Brewers. He's got some nasty stuff and is a monster in person.

Ok Topps, time to get some on-card autos of Pineda, pronto.

He's slated to start April 5 against the Rangers.

They should actually have a pretty decent rotation,

Felix is arguably the best pitcher in baseball,
Vargas was outstanding last year and might have been one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball
Bedard is healthy and looks like hes returning to form, said he feels as good as hes ever felt
Pineda looks like he is a future #1 guy, his official measurements are now 6'7" 265. Big boy...

And there offense is still horrible, but should improve from last years worst season in MLB history.

I agree. Going nowhere team just lost an extra year of a top prospect pitcher(unless he is sent back down at some time.)
What is more valuable to the Mariners: Two months of Pineda at 22yo or 1 year at 28yo?

I disagree. There are different theories all over the league on how to handle young pitchers. If ya'll remember correctly no one handled Felix with kid gloves. He's pitched six seasons in the league and he is only 24, and is one of the best pitchers in the game and probably the best in the American League. Pineda is a huge kid with an explosive arm. I believe he is too good for AAA. If you looking for an example of "stupid" consul the way the old general manager and manager handled Brandon Morrow.

I totally agree with that example. Yeah bavasi really messed up on handling morrow with making him change his role all the time closer, starting pitcher, closer, and then back starting pitcher and then having him sent down a lot to work on building his arm. He should of just made him a starter from the get go glad he isnt the gm anymore

Some might say that Felix WAS handled with kiddy gloves. For multiple years it was sidely reported that his slider was his best pitch and yet the Mariners would not let him throw it to try and protect him.

Well yeah, but he was signed at 16 and in the bigs at 19. There were no Joba rules, no bullpen. Just thrown out there because they believed he was talented enough and mature enough to handle it.

All true, I agree with all stated. I did find it very interesting how many years in the big leagues he pitched until he finally started throwing his slider.

Keep in mind us Mariner fans need something to get us excited. Yeah, Pineda probably won't get a lot of lefties out at the major league level until he can develop his change up but I know I will absolutely tune into to mlbtv and watch him. Just like when Felix came up from AAA it was so exciting to have a Happy Felix Day. Now maybe a happy Michael day??? Happy Pineda day? Happy "whatever his nickname is going to be" day.

Not as impressive as the Felix stash was but I have a couple mortgage payments worth.
