i want to move the psa/dna sticker that's shown on the bill to either the underside of the bill or maybe on the inner headband.
will this have a negative effect on the item's authenticity or invalidate the sticker?
thank you for your time.

I think as long as you have the COA and its documented online it will be ok. I would remove it too. They should have placed the sticker under the bill...

I'm not sure since I've never removed one, but I thought that the PSA/DNA stickers were those "tamper evident" ones (IE, they leave behind some kind of imprint if you try to remove the sticker).

They do. But it's not too hard to get the residue off.

I got a GU ball from Upper Deck, took off the sticker, and had Brett Wallace sign it.

This will sound ridiculous, but freeze the hat, then try to peel off the sticker. The goofy adhesive backing to the PSA/DNA sticker can leave behind bits and therefore it will look tampered probably without, and throwing the hat in the freezer will help stiffen it a bit.

Try to peel it slowly after freezing, if there is resistance, stop if you truly care about the sticker.

One thing is certain, you can send it back to PSA to move it (with a new sticker).

I guess I'm the only one, but why would you want to move it? If you plan on keeping it in your collection it shouldn't matter. If you're looking to move it, it shouldn't matter either. The only reason it might be negative is if you are planning on wearing it. Otherwise it is an authenticated piece and the COA sticker shouldn't need to be moved. I'm not sure as I the only GU memorbilia I collect are bats and the occasional glove, I still think its not smart personally to tamper with the authenticity of an item.

You aren't the only one wondering why it should be moved Andy. If it were mine, I'd leave it as is.

thank you all for your comments.

200lb - i will try your suggestion.

yes this cap is for my collection and i do not plan on selling it. in my opinion, the sticker is an eyesore on the cap. i guess it's just that i'd rather move the sticker to have the overall appearance more visually appealing than see that constant reminder that the autograph is real. it probably seems odd for me to state it this way, however, to me, it's like someone displaying the COA more prominently than the item itself.

again, thank you for your time.

george - thanks for the link. as well as 200lb for suggesting to have them redo it.

i think my best bet is to send this back to them and have them do this properly.
ultimately, it's my belief that my entire BW collection will always remain with me. if i were to die, my family and friends wouldn't see the point in keeping the entire collection amongst themselves - nor would i want them to. selling these items would be their best option. so making that experience as easy as possible is the wisest thing i can do for them.

thanks all for your comments.

enjoy!

very true. this white version may not break apart like those holographic new styles, however this white sticker may have something that effects its easy removel...i could be wrong. at any rate, i'm just going to have them relocate the sticker out of sight.

The White stickers have a very "gooey" adhesive backing, which is why I mentioned freezing it. The newer foil stickers will (sadly) probably come right off of something like a hat without any problem or marking on the sticker or the item.

Basically, the wool/fibers in the hat will limit the surface adhesion of the thin adhesive on the foil stickers whereas the thicker "gooey" adhesive backing used on the white stickers sort of moved around a bit.

All told, for PSA/DNA this is one step forward, and one step back.
