Milliken. This is THE reason why I love autograph retired sets so much. Whoever decided to get retired common players to sign was a genius. Maybe they don't give you the same thrill as a Trout, but it sure is nice to have captured some of these guys before they died on issues that never would have happened had not someone had the idea!

Banty Gilliam that came with a bonus card! Phil has been more than generous with me and I really appreciate it. I feel his brand has really taken off and that is great news, but makes it tougher to grab many of his really cool custom cards. Best custom cards I have seen.

I liked the look of this, despite the logo-less design. The solid reds, blues, greens mirror or refractor finish ook great. Those multicolored prismatic sparklers look horrible. Go back to clean and simple. This is /8 as well.

Another cheap Sheehan. I need to stop buying his cards now.

Leaf GU with Garvey /6. Honestly, I am not sure why I still buy these. I actually don't win that many these days, which is probably a good thing. At least there are player images on some of them now.
Garvey Leaf GU 6 mrm.png

A couple more Dodgers Heritage GU. i have lost faith in relic cards for the most part, so they are now just inserts to me. These were cheap enough to add, and Heritage puts out good designs usually.

Yesterdays mail posting late.

I sneaked off a 1/1 win on what is not the greatest looking base card. A&G silver. Gold was a more attractive card, but it is what it is.

These non-licensed cards have become an semi-accepted norm sadly. I am guilty, as I have bought many of them, but they still do not carry the same appeal. This is Leaf /10 and a base Steel to go with it.

Joe Simpson. I probably have this card signed by all individually and maybe a couple duals, but I don't believe I have one by all 3. That would be a nice card.

A couple more Banty. Don't know what the future holds for these cards (value and collectibility), but they are popular now with enough people that the prices are fairly high on many of them. I think the market is mostly the creator selling them direct to the public. I have seen a few secondary listings, but nothing like any other new issue. People are not buying these to flip. These are going straight into collections. I feel like I might already have this Cox, but the Snake is new.

I am happy, yet sad at the same time that I can land a great auto like this for so cheap. Duke was a great signer and was around a long time. There will be plenty of supply to go around for a while and that is a great thing. His NYC CF contemporaries leave him in the dust though when it comes to demand and prices.

This is /25 back when Leaf was making some really great stuff.

Surprised (but quite happy) to get this at auction for only $1. 1986 Fleer Cello. Shipping was $5+, but seems the mid-late 80s wax has spiked to strange levels. Everyone chasing grading potential I suppose.

Couple Garvey Leaf. One is a pre-production promo 1/1 and the is the finished card /20. Leaf is really lining the pockets of certain individuals. not sure who they are, but the same people are selling all kinds of preproduction cards from Leaf.

Another photo pack lot (the complete package was 20 photos), this one from the mid-late 60s likely. Drysdale, but no Koufax.
Dodger photo pack lot.png
Eovaldi archives. I like this design and he was a former Dodger, so score.

Wouldn't have made a post just for this, but since the post is already made, i'll include it. A sharp 1972 Dodgers Team card.

Another back variation of the T206 set, the El Principe De Gales version. These are not numbered and inserted 1:10 packs. I have grown tired of excessive variations, but these are kind of refreshing. The back variation was the original variation.

Cheap, low numbered commons are fun for me.

1961 Morrell Meats Norm Larker. Getting hard to find any deals on crds like these any more. These were often damaged, so this is a real nice copy.

B Harris Heritage Red.png

Billy Harris 2009 Topps Heritage Real One Red Auto /60. Another great example of a very obscure player who got some modern fame from Heritage. Harris only played 2 games in MLB, but is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of fame. A trivial nugget you'd only know if you found the source, but in his debut he was caught by Roy Campanella who was unknowingly playing in his final game. Harris was pitching fairly well but was pulled for a pinch hitter in the 7th and Sandy Koufax came into to relieve him. That probably made for some lifelong stories!

Not that I would have, but whenever I hear that a player lived semi-close to me, I think about how it might have been cool to seek him out and try to have a conversation over a beer or something like that. Apparently Harris had a bar called Billy's Bull Pen in Kennewick, WA. Not close enough to actually go, unless I was on the way to Walla Walla, but I bet you could have run into him pretty easily back in the day. He died in 2011. Apparently the Tavern is still around, at least in location and partial name (Woody's BullPen Bar & Grille). An article I found said the new owner kept a small display featuring Harris stuff. I need to try to get by there some day now.
