They should do buyback auto's of all the key rookies from that set. Have each auto be a 89 star rookie card numbered to 89. I think this would bring some attention back to the original set and do UD some good. It would also be a sweet set to put together.

I like the idea, but they should cherrypick RC's from every base UD set over the 20 year span..

1991 Chipper Jones /91
1994 Arod /94

For each and every year, some could be made! And with so many, they could be inserted at a rate of 1 per box!

And on-card autographs.

Yep, on card auto's with holographic certification and foil serial # stamping to avoid the bowman buyback fiasco and it would be the hottest product on the market!

Very good idea! THat would be very interesting to see.....although with UD, we would probably see a 1989 Griffey with a nice silver sticker on it. YUCK!

They've done stuff similar. There's an Arod SP Buyback /97 or /94 out there. It's been one of my most wanted cards for awhile. I think flightpostie (sp) used to have one.

Cool idea plus Pujols would be /01 (2001).
How would they handle 2000? /00

Make it a redemption and forget to produce it. The rarest card out there 0/0

They seem to be pretty good at this with other redemption's ;)

Those cards, if of legends, would rival the 500 HR cards popularity. They won't be as expensive, but they would be extremely popular. Collectors everywhere would try to put the set together. I'd probably quit buying prospects and pick a few up.

Edit: With all this cool buyback talk, can anyone tell me what this was released in?
