That card looks amazing. Off the scan, its worth grading.

I wonder when the Angel will pop up.

To rich for me even, especially since last night JP and I discussed how I am hesitant to invest big in Lars. I got his Green USA since it was his rarest of that for about one thirtieth of that price. It is way to high, but if Wossa or some more crazy Boston fan than me that has no fear of Tex getting signed and slowing Lars road to the Majors.

I think the Sox have showed they are good at getting guys up to the bigs if they are ready. Remember, both Lowrie and Pedroia were shortstops, and both were called up to play different positions. Paps was a starter his whole minor league career and suddenly became a reliever, same with Masterson.
When he's ready, he'll be there.

But barring a lot of injuries if they sign Tex, he has a very bad road to majors. Youk and Tex would be around for a while at the corners. Ortiz is around for a bit as DH, so hard to get him in there. It all changes if they do not sign Tex, but everyone knows he is one of the tops on their signing list, and that makes Lars more trade bait than a sure shot at stardom in Boston.

I don't get why the need to grade a 1/1. There is only 1. No additional need to distinguish it and make it stand out. It is a 1/1!!!

The only reason I can see would be to protect and display. What additional value would a 9.5 1/1 of a player go for as oppose to it not being graded?

I agree, it's a fairly silly claim which is why I quoted it.

Sometimes they do fetch more graded than they would raw. I've done it before.

Haven't blown the scan up, but doesn't the bottom right corner on the front seem a little dinged? Maybe its just the superfractor pattern. Regardless, I don't think I'd cram a card like that into a standard toploader.

For lower range supers a good grade could cause a price bump, but to pay that price for Lars you need a lunatic that doesn't care about grading or investing, just someone who wants a Red Sox Super. I am that person, but can't afford that card. Investment wise, you could probably get around 100 base Lars autos for that price, and I would be ROI would be insanely higher.

There isn't a Wossa for Boston unless he wants to just add another amazing Super to his collection. There are people who spend that money on Jacoby, but that is different since women also like Jacoby and could care at all about his performance on the field.

1/1s are often graded b/c there are still premiums for 9.5s + 10s. also, grading provides better protection than say putting your superfractor in a pennysleeve/9 page card pocket holder.
