Just saw a picture of Glavine, Smoltz and Maddux and remembered the days where they were just absolutely dominant and all playing with Atlanta. That team was so stacked and they were just unhittable at times. I am biased towards Glavine as hes a local where I am from, but wonder who you all thought was the best in each of their prime?

I picked maddux, but its a really hard poll. All 3 are first ballod HOFers. Here is how I see it on a percentage scale:

Glavine: 33%
Smoltz: 33%
Maddux:34%

What...no love for Steve Avery?!?

I keeeeeed.

Ill tell you what man, I remember an MLB Sega game from like 98-99 I played constantly. Steve Avery was so dominant they must have mixed up his ability with Walter Johnson. I think I threw about 15 perfect games with Avery over the life span of that game. Just for you though, I did add John Rocker!

EDIT: Crap, I didnt realize adding someone reset the poll lol. Sorry.

Hmm. The way i would choose who i thought was the best, Well if i had to pick 1 of them to pitch a crucial game in the post season, I would go with Smoltz hands down. I think outa the 3 he was the best money pitcher. Glavine was good in big games , Maddux had the regular season stats but Smoltz was money in the post season. You must figure that into the argument since they played in October every single year.

How can you find a way to compare the three stats on one internet site (like on baseball reference).

I live here in Atlanta, and remember the days of "Worse to first" and Smoltz was the heart and the soul of the team. yes Glavine was the crafty lefty and Maddux was the cerebral pitcher that could hit the spots, but Smoltz, man he is so dominant.
Kind of a loaded question man!

I saw him at a UGA game one time.. he was walking down a hill, and someone said.."HEY John whats up" he was like "HEy.." and keep in mind this was right in the middle of his "COMEBACK" so you would think he would talk to the fans..
someone said in the background "what an *******"

he isn't only hated in NYC man

I said it the other day, and have said it the entire time.

Rocker speaks truths. And people don't like it.

What he said when all the controversy started, he didn't say anything that wasn't true.

You may hate him for what he said, and how he acts, but you can't say he doesn't speak the truth.

I still want a Rocker 49 Braves jersey. I will get one one of these days.

I agree with you. he does speak what is entirely true.. he was taken out of context on much of what was printed, but then again.. you can't spout off like he did to a liberal reporter either..

1. Go to http://www.baseball-reference.com
2. Type "Smoltz" in the search bar
3. Go to the bottom of his page and click COMPARE (Located under "Other References")
4. Type "Tom Glavine" in the search bar
5. Go to the bottom of Glavines page and click on COMPARE
6. Type in "Greg Maddux" in the search bar
7. You can make the boxes bigger or smaller by moving your cursor right under the sideways scroll bar so they are all the same size

..Hope this helps.

Btw I voted for Maddux. :)
