I had no idea about the ACL thing either. Dwight Howard's reaction and disbelief when they brought it up during the telecast was great.

I was real upset draft night when the Bulls passed on him twice in the first round. Thought he was a great value and the type of player they needed. I know Taj Gibson has played well, but still wish they took him.

The All-Star game felt to me like a success...of course, that's comparing it to the dunk contest and other "activities" (I don't know what else to call them ::facepalm:: ) that were held yesterday.

It still didn't feel like I was watching an all star game. No Kobe, no Shaq, no Tim Duncan (at least I didn't see him play), no Vince Carter, no Jason Kidd, no Tmac, no Yao, no KG. Watching this only made me feel old.

The game evolves over time, these are todays stars. 3 (Duncan, KG and Kidd) of the guys you stated did play in the game, 3 are injured so they couldn't play anyway (Yao, TMac, Kobe) and that leaves 2 players who are shadows of their former selves in Shaq and Vince Carter.

It was a good event for the NBA drawing as many as they did for it. It was good to see players like Lebron, Bosh, Wade and Williams put on a show. The game could have been better if they had given Rondo more minutes or Rose and Paul were healthy. Point Guards make this kind of game better, and some of the highlights of the night were when Rondo and Williams were on the court. Unfortunately Williams messed up the ending as well.....

KG was in street clothes. I didn't see Duncan or Kidd in the game unless I was away for the short time they were in there. I know Shaq and Kobe were hurt, but that's not the point I'm getting at. All of my early childhood heros are long retired, and the youngsters back then are becoming grandpas now. Of course it's the nature of the game changing but it's making me feel old.

I understand your point, but just to be factual:

KG started and played 13 minutes
Duncan started and played 13 minutes
Kidd came off the bench and played 6 minutes

It does help your point that they played so little, whether it's because they were old and hurt (KG), old and needed to rest for the 2nd half (Duncan), or old and not the best option at point guard for the team (Kidd). I find the best way to get over the feeling old is to dive into these new young players, because a lot of them are going to be far better than what we saw from the last generation of players.
