Just finished watching it and I love it. It's a very good movie and I actually learned something (which is rare when one watches movies!) about card counting...how they do it etc. (from the special features of the DVD).

If anyone is looking for a DVD to rent, this is the one for sure. I just bought the DVD from Target for $8, so I'm happy.

Anyone saw the movie? Did you like it?

I'd put it my Top 5 favorite movies of all-time. The end was amazing!

Very good movie. Saw it when it premiered in theaters. Then saw it again after my visit to MIT this fall. Felt it was the right movie to watch after the trip. lol
While in Cambridge, stumbled upon this place: Cool little shop, pricey stuff though

I thought it was a great movie and I also tend to like movies that are based on actual events.

My only major complaint is the lack of Asian-American actors (besides a goofy one) in the movie. It's rare to find Asian-Americans in leading roles (unless you count Harold and Kumar ) so this would've been a good chance to showcase some Asian-American talent (especially when the original people on whom the movie is based were Asian-American).

Don't forget that Liza Lapira girl...she's Asian American (and hot!)...but, yes, I get your point.

The majority of the "MIT" scenes were filmed in BC and not in MIT...I guess MIT wanted no part of this film!

Another case where the book is better than the movie. Not saying the movie is bad, but I prefer the book.

That and BU I think.

That is true, but the storyline was based on MIT and their students

the book was better, and i hate reading. i think the movie dragged on a bit, but still good. my father, who was a dealer in vegas, said that he nor anyone else ever said "Winner winner chicken dinner."

I'm gonna have to pick up the book sometime in the near future. Does the book get more into the counting and stuff than the movie did?

I'm reading the info on wikipedea now and I never knew there was controversy about the lack of Asian characters. Jeff Ma (the main MIT guy) was even accused of being a "race traitor"...wow!

if i recall, the book is a little strange. It starts off in present time, then goes back and forth between the present and what was actually going on. Great read though, took me about three or four days to finish. i think it went into counting and more about how they were living like kings, that's all i will say

I saw it and I loved it.I thought it was pretty cool and I could totally see something like that happening for real.

As for counting cards...I am not sure how to do nor would I do it at a casino but in my eyes...it wouldn't be cheating if you are not doing anything to alter the game other than doing simple math in your head.No I did not understand everything but from what I did understand...I find it hard to believe anyone was doing anything wrong by counting the cards.I can totally see the casinos being pissed about it but I really don't think they should be able to do anything about it.If they feel your cheating perhaps they should alter the game somehow to make it more fair(or more random). Its not like you can visually see whats coming next or your playing with extra cards or anything.I will have to watch the extras because it would certainly be fun to do with a couple of friends just as a joke though.

And knowing Casino's the way I do, they can kick you out of their property for ANY reason. Even if you looked at someone strangely...they CAN legally kick you out for anything.
