the Pirates tried to trade Jack Wilson during the Winter Meetings but there were no takers. today they sign Vazquez so either they think they can trade Wilson or Sanchez and he can play second or shortstop or he will be an expensive bench player. I personally hope neither are traded and Vazquez will just be a backup.

The Pirates today agreed to terms on a two-year contract with free agent infielder Ramon Vazquez.

Vazquez, 32, set career bests with a .290 batting average and 40 RBIs last season with the Texas Rangers.

He also played all four infield positions, including 70 appearances at third base and 26 at shortstop.

Vazquez has a career .257 batting average in eight Major League seasons.

Ramon Vazquez played very well for Texas last year. Nice signing

I agree it is a good signing. I just don't want Jack to leave and I would really hate it if Sanchez was traded.

what will happen to luis cruz?

I guess if Wilson or Sanchez are traded he would become the backup to Vazquez and whoever is not traded.
