sure, Upper Crap puts out a few nice ones. They call them manufactured patches.

I have bought an auto and a patch suspecting it was fake but not possitive. I put very low bids on both and won. I now know for sure the auto is fake and I'm pretty sure the patch is also but I'm OK with it as I did not pay much and I still have an example of the card that I need.

Why would I want to pay good money to scum-sucking vermon like Shoeless-Joe for a fake card?
It's rewarding scammers like him for deceiving unknowing collectors, and just makes these motherfrackers make more phony patch cards.
I don't care if the card "looks cool." I wouldn't pay $1 for a fake card.

Defining fake patch as either replacing a GU jersey or patch piece with one with more eye appeal, or actually altering a regular card with such a piece, and in either case the replacement piece is not actually a piece of a uniform game-worn by that player, in answering whether I'd buy one for myself, I'd say,"probably not." There was a Rondell White card on ebay recently that was mentioned on here that was just really nice lokoing, but obviously fake. It was a beautiful National League logo, I suspect from an older item, and it just made it a nice card. I was thinking about putting a $5 bid on it, but it ended up selling for over $100. Why I'd even think about buying such an item is the same as why I buy any other item, that it either appeals to me aesthetically or it's part of a group I feel compelled to assemble. The legitimacy of a homemade card is, to me, only a hair's-breadth away from that of a card assembled by a piece-worker employed by a faceless corporation. People buy paintings, drawings, statues, pins, and all sorts of other ephemera made by individuals, so what's really the difference, in terms of building your own personal collection? Probably the only difference many people see is the 'anyone can do that' aspect of fake patches. Well, 'anyone' can take a photo of their favorite player, Photoshop up a design, and take it to Kinko's to print out. Yet, people are willing to pay tons for ones printed by a pair of companies rather than the guy in his garage. And even more odd is that a lot of these peolpe will admire and pay for something like a McFarlane figure repainted to be a different player. I see no difference there, except maybe the skill it takes to paint pinstripes on a figure (something I attempted once and gave up on).

One caveat: the seller of such an item would have to be up-front about the fakery. Of course, that opens a can of worms, but if he was I'd have no problem buying such a card if the price was right ($5 or less) and it was extremely well-done.

I would only buy it if I could get it for or less than the un-altered patch would fetch. I would always be looking for an upgrade though.

Although I chose 'Hell No!', I do not think I would be that hostile towards my decision.

But simply 'No' would do me..
