OK, so now that BCDP has hit the market and AFLAC autos are being pulled about 1:box, what are your thoughts on them?

Do you like the look of them?

What do you think of the quality control?

What do you think about the longer term value?

How do you feel about the possibility of many fakes hitting the market?

I am not willing to prospect these autos. But, there are 3 of my guys in there that I want. Freddie, Jon, and Jason, I will have a set of all 3.

I bought Freddie today.

I love the idea, they look nice and I love that I pulled Porcello, but the possibility of fakes does scare me a bit, that's why I put mine up instead of holding for a while. Topps should have put a stamp on the card, or serial #d them.

Do you like the look of them? Yes, they are sexy, especially the clean autos

What do you think of the quality control? meh, not to bad, good autos will be good premiums, nuff said.

What do you think about the longer term value? THE card to get, better than all including the golds. Not as good as an orange, red, or super

How do you feel about the possibility of many fakes hitting the market? I feel that if you want a legitimate copy, buy them early on before the forgeries can take place, and eventually the slabbed copies, but as mentioned, not many forgers have stacks of Aflacs ready to risk ruining.

This is one of the best ideas Topps could come up with. I suspect that these will be "the" card to get. That's just me.

Option C.

Idea was long overdue, but they made a mistake not using serialization.

I love em. Much rather have a Heyward aflac auto over an 08 auto anyday of the week. Esp. the non smudged autos.

I tend to agree with this.

If they had took precautions to ensure clean auto's & stamped the cards with serial #'s and stickers, these would be a thing of beauty and quite possibly THE card to have. However, the lack of quality control, the lack of a serial #, and the probability of forgeries to come will inevidably water down the sales and desire for these cards.

If I were topps, I would have done these via redemption as well as using an appropriate marker for shiney surfaces. Sent them out stamped, stickered and in a case similar to the uncirculated with tamper proof seal. These things combined would make convincing forgeries all but non existant and would have presented the cards in a state of assured quality.

Just my 2+.. :)

On a slightly different matter, I'd like to know if Topps could supply us, the public, with a Population Report for each of these autos, since they aren't serial numbered.

(A couple of years ago, they gave us the population numbers of the AFLAC Refractors, Xfractors, Gold Refs and Auto Refractors for the 2004 set.)

I'd been told that they were going to weed out the cards with badly smeared autographs and other deformities from inclusion into 2008 BDP packs. I'm sure we'd like to know just how many got cut for each player.

What is the total number of possible fakes though? How many have been graded unsigned, how many are in PC's? I'd wager there really are at most maybe 150 or so that could be out and sold at this point, maybe less.

Here is a question: Why did it take this set to really catch the eye of everyone?? No one cares about the AFLAC Autos from last year? Chris Marrero AFLAC Auto can be had for $20 while players that arent near his ability sell for way more. Or will the success of the new AFLAC stuff improve the popularity of last years?

There are SO many different aspects of this, that it would be so long to hash it out.

There are plenty of copies unsigned the people could get signed and stick a random sticker on the back. There are also people that got them signed at the AFLAC games, that could stick a random sticker on the back. I know for a fact that people did this, because I went to the 2007 game. I am sure people did the same at the 2006 game.

The lack of serial numbering and stamping make them really easy to be faked.

Reminds me '02 Bowman Chrome Unc. and '02 Bowman Best Unc Autographs. from thepit.com. These sold great at first until the fake ones started popping up and now people are scared to bid on them. After that topps started serial numbering thepit cards or making them a different parallel. In my opinion topps dropped the ball on these.

The only reason I Voted Yes is ,I build the sets. With the AFLAC Auto's,it will be tough. I'll stick with the base set.

There aren't really plenty of them out there. At the very worst if every last one got faked you're looking at 600 max. 250 real autos, 250 non-autos, 100 given to the player.

I'm back. 8-)

I voted Great I want them.

Even though I've been waiting a long time for the Bumgarner, Alderson and Noonan autos I will try to wait a little longer for the first wave to pass through ebay before I buy mine.

They wouldn't buy yours, DUCY?

I think we are going to see a few fakes out there, me and Jeff got a bunch signed including a few Galloways that we sold on ebay already. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of them with a sticker. We got some of ours signed in red though, would be funny to see if someone listed that as a parallel.

Yup, that's what I am talking about D. We both know that the players signed in the same place as the ones inserted in packs, and you guys were pretty much the only ones getting them signed in team colors (blue & red).

The rest of the people were getting them signed in blue, mostly. If we think that people aren't going to take a Van Mil auto sticker and place them on the back, then we are kidding ourselves.

I am staying FAR away from these cards. I just hope that the autos bring more awareness to the graded unsigned copies.
