I bought a bunch of UD boxes from 10-15 years ago from BBC Exchange.A little tired of breaking new stuff, so I turned back the clock from when collecting was much more cut and dry.I looked on the back of the wrapper after pulling the Maddux jersey, and was astonished they were at 1:2500.Is that some kind of error?Really?Anyway, some of the inserts were really sharp and it was a lot of fun.

Cool little break.

If I had the money to blow, I might consider something similar. Nice inserts (in comparison to what we get today) and truly "rare" (as in hard to pull) GU.

Power Package and Hot Commodities inserts were my favorite, die cut foil cards is a winning combination to me.As a Cardinals fan, I was happy with the Immaculate Perception McGwire too (cool looking foil insert).Instead of the crappy Maddux, too bad I couldn't hit one of the A Piece Of History 500 cards, which had the same long odds.'99 was really average, but even the subsets in '96-'98 boxes looked pretty cool.I liked the base design too.For what it's worth, I hit an instant winner card in the '97 boxes, but both were for some commerative card.I might decide to buy more in the future.

If anything is for trade/sale... I'd certainly be interested in the Bagwell's.

It's always nice to see an old school break on the boards. I've thought about busting a UDCC box from every year, just haven't gotten around to pulling the trigger.

Yes, I throughly enjoy the old school breaks on here too, though they are somewhat rare. What Cardinals do you have?

Steve Hart at BBCE is one good dude.

I bought 2 boxes of 99 Topps Series two for 33 bucks from him, will see what happens. Hoping for a MVP hit and a Nolan Auto :D

Yeah I hear that. Its nice to switch things up every once and awhile and breaking products from the Mid to Late 90's can be a lot of fun (not to mention a lot cheaper). It also helps round out player collections.

Don't remember which Beckett it was, but there was a nice article about him at some national show.He or someone of his inspected some '86-87 Fleer basketball boxes and paid a bunch of them.

I thought about getting some of those Topps boxes too, but didn't.Post the break when you rip them.I kind of miss those years, back then you didn't worry about hitting rare autograph or patch cards, at least I didn't.If I pulled some nice insert cards or a base rookie I was happy.

Indeed.Probably 6 weeks ago I bought a bunch of cheap late '80s and early '90s boxes from him.A lot of fun ripping them and pulling some HOF rookies I wanted in my collection.I pulled a Musial/Mantle/Yazstremski insert and another Mantle insert I was wanting in some of the Score boxes. No autograph, but I had wanted those inserts in my collection anyway.

sounds like a fun break. i opened a 99 ud box a year or so ago and i complained when i got a forte red triple of kerry wood /100. at least i got one of the more shortprinted ones. the triple and quadruple parallels are where its at for 99 ud inserts
