Hey everyone. This is a pretty long read, so be prepared...

Can someone completely explain the 1998 Collector's Edge Odyssey HoloGold parallels?

According to Beckett online, the set is divided in to 4 quarters. 1st quarter is cards 1-150, 2nd quarter for 151-200, 3rd quarter for 201-230, and 4th quarter for 231-250.

Now, here is the information about the Hologold set per Beckett:

This 250-card set is a parallel version of the base set with a gold border around the card front and marked with the letter "H" on the card back. 1st Quarter cards are seeded in packs at the rate of 1:34 with only 150 of each card printed; 2nd Quarter, 1:307 with 50 printed; 3rd Quarter, 1:840 with 30 printed; and 4th Quarter, 1:1920 with only 20 of each printed.

Now, I have Curtis Martin 3rd quarter #219. It has the gold holofoil and gold foil around the name.

Now, here are all the cards found on the Beckett Website for Curtis Martin for 1998 Odyssey:

http://www.beckett.com/search/#term=1998 odyssey curtis martin
(link has spaces in it, so clicking on it won't work, so copy and paste)

As you can see, there are 3 #ed cards

1998 Collector's Edge Odyssey Level 2 HoloGold #100 Curtis Martin /150
1998 Collector's Edge Odyssey Level 2 HoloGold #181 Curtis Martin 2Q /50
1998 Collector's Edge Odyssey Level 2 HoloGold #219 Curtis Martin 3Q /30

So, using this information, my card should be /30, correct?

WRONG!

It's #ed 14/150.

Now, I did some searching on COMC, and found some others like mine that are in the range 201-230

Jake Plummer #201
http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Fo ... _3Q/861330

Corey Dillon #204
http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Fo ... _3Q/861333

Now, if you look at the back, you will see that these have the "H" and it says "Quarter 3 of 3". Now, these should have been /30 according to Beckett. Mine looks EXACTLY LIKE THESE!

Notice that these are ALL within the first 30 of the print run.

Now, here are examples that show the correct serial number.

Antonio Freeman #211

Fred Taylor #214
http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Fo ... _3Q/861343

Steve McNair #229
http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Fo ... _3Q/861358

What is going on?

EDIT- Searching ebay auctions, I found an auction by Jaderock saying that these were numbered incorrectly and the wrong one could be exchanged for the correct one. I have contacted Jaderock to get more information.

The #/150s were all inserted into packs (even though they are supposed to be #/150, #/50, #/30 and #/20). You will not find a "serial number" higher than what the print run will be though. For example a 4th Qtr was #1/150 to #20/150 and no higher.

The corrected versions were available if you wanted to send them in for a replacement.

Lastly, after CE went bankrupt all the remaining corrected versions surfaced.

Hope that helps.
